3.77 LSDAS GPA 165 LSAT Non- URM seeking honest apprasial
The people on this board seem to be pretty on point in regards to admissions, and id like an honest and realistic assessment of my numbers. I will be retaking the LSAT in oct. with the hope of jumping up several points as i understand this will help tremendously, but lets assume my high score is 165 for the sake of this post. Strong letters of rec, and a personal statement that truly articulates why i want to practice law. I am a Texas resident and UT is my dream school, but i dont feel super confident about my chances.
Where do you all think my reaches, targets and safety schools should be? I have no real sense of where my numbers stand I feel like i have "tweener" numbers that are better than meh but not quite strong.
Any insight is greatly appreciated!

You probably have little to no chance at Texas, so if you really want TX, re-take. If you could improve your LSAT by just 2-3 points, you'll more than likely be in. At this point, you are a deny or, at the very best, wait listed.
Retake is your best bet because you are so close and shouldn't pass up Texas for SMU/UH/etc., which are a significant drop off from UT.

I had your numbers (TX resident also) and got waitlisted at UT. I didn't try very hard to get in off the waitlist, but I don't know if trying hard would've made a difference. I upped my LSAT by 2-3 points and feel a lot better about my chances this cycle. I didn't really apply to too many other schools, but you should get some decent money at UGA, Alabama, and some of the others ranked around those schools. But my advice is to do what I did. Don't settle for anything lower-ranked than UT, you can do better.

I'm not overly familiar with UT's policies, but if you're looking for some other great schools that you have a decent "target" shot at, consider:
BC
USC
Emory
ND
WUSTL
And, if you're looking for some other reach schools that would definitely consider you:
UVA
Northwestern
Cornell
UCLA
Best of luck with your cycle!

Thanks guys. From look through LSN this is sort of where i figured my range would be. Im definitely buckled down for a retake and hope to see at least a moderate score increase

Honestly, even 2-3 points will almost guarantee admission.

looks like 165 + 3.7 and up = admission. but like i said before, i would retake and go for t14-t20.
