Chances at BC/BU?
I've been thinking a lot about these two schools lately, but I know very little about both the market and the admissions practices at each school. I have heard that both seem to prefer GPA over LSAT, which doesn't bode well for me.
I've got a 168 and a 3.4
LSP has me at: 'consider' for BU and 'strong consider' for BC. The thing is, looking at LSN it would seem my chances are much worse. While TLS stats paints a much nicer picture.
I'm confused and would appreciate any advice.

GPA may be low for BC, but who knows, they might bite at a 168. I got in with 166/3.7 at sticker FWIW.

Thanks, is BU pretty much a crapshoot between Accept/WL?WSJ_Law wrote:GPA may be low for BC, but who knows, they might bite at a 168. I got in with 166/3.7 at sticker FWIW.

Sorry to double post- is there anyone who can explain the difference between TLS stats and LSN?

I would say you have a good shot, despite the GPA (especially if you display an upward trend). Anecdotal evidence: I had a 165/3.7 and got in with $12k (BC) and $15k (BU). There's lots of hope - apply early (before Thanksgiving)!

You are a WL/accept at both schools. Check out lawschoolnumbers.com . Apply early, with targeted applications, and you will probably get at least one of them, possibly with money.
Also, consider a retake in October (but apply beforehand, then update w/ new score). A lower score will not hurt you, and 2+ more points will increase you chances, as well as get you more $ if you do get in.

Apply early. Check the BU thread- at one point in this cycle, BU just started waitlisting everyone. Looked like they had accepted too many early on.

BU's admissions office is very friendly. Use fake questions as a way to establish correspondence.
1. Make Friends
2. Get Accepted
3. $$$$

LSP uses data from 2 cycles ago (2009-2010 cycle, as the terms and conditions say it was last updated Oct 2010), LSN has data from the most recent cycle.
Edit: Just saw you were asking about TLS stats and LSN, not LSN and LSP, so maybe you already knew

If you apply early and have decent softs you should be fine. I had a 168/3.5 and got $20,000/yr from both schools.

Nice, yeah I'm a transfer and had an awful freshman year. As in sub 3.0. At my new school I have a 3.6x. I'm hoping that will be a small x-factor for me but obviously it's the lsac gpa that really counts. What are "decent softs" to you? I would describe mine as fairly typical, though lacking in work experience.lmtt wrote:If you apply early and have decent softs you should be fine. Cupidity, I'm guessing that strategy worked for you?
