170 / 3.85
170 / 3.85 / 2years WE at public interest legal advocacy organization
What are my chances at T6, if any? I'd like to stay in NYC if possible...worth it to ED at NYU?
How about $ at lower T14?

I would say very little chance at t6. Very strong chance at the rest of t14. Thats where I would focus my energy.

If you want NYC, then ED to NYU is your best bet. You should get some of MVP, most likely with $, with an RD app. You should also get the lower T14 w $$, so no need to apply any lower. You'll most likely get a waitlist from NYU, but with applications expected to be down next year, you never know.

Like the other posters said, lower T14 is good for you. T6 and higher would be reachAvrenim wrote:170 / 3.85 / 2years WE at public interest legal advocacy organization

Yeah this sounds consistent with what I'm finding in my research. Thanks for your help.

Don't be discouraged, however. There have been "lesser candidates" (read: lower numbers) to be admitted into T6 schools. It sounds like you have potential for very relevant WE that could lead to a very solid PS. While a PS won't get you in anywhere on its own, you don't have numbers that will automatically eliminate you anywhere. You will be above the GPA median just about everywhere, and not significantly below LSAT median anywhere.
I agree with other posters, however, in that if there is one of CCN that is far and away your #1, send an ED app. Best of luck!

I think you can get T6 with those numbers. My numbers were 170 / 3.78 (though I'm a non-traditional applicant). I applied *very* late (think end of January) and got into NYU and will be going to Chicago (got in off their WL). My advise would be to get your apps in early. I got WLed at a bunch of target / accept schools, and I think the main issue there was that I got my apps in so late.

I would be cautious about EDing to NYU. I have very similar numbers 169/3.87 and we have about a 50-50 chance of NYU from my research. I'm not planning on EDing because of the ability to negotiate scholarships that would be lost and the fact that it isn't really that much of a long shot. We're likely going to get money from MVP and so I think it would be better to wait to see if there is the option of asking NYU for some similar money. Just my thoughts.
