3.8/169 GWU ED?
Hey everyone!
-3.8 LSAC GPA. 3.95 in my degree program (Information Technology) from a smaller state school.
-169 on the June LSAT.
-Not really any softs other than working 30+ hours a week to put myself through school.
What are my chances applying ED to GWU? I'm interested in government work, but am open to any type of law. I would prefer to live in either California or DC.
So does GWU ED sound like a possibility? Will my lack of softs hurt me? Here are the other schools I'm planning on applying to:
Cornell
USC
UCLA
UCI
BU
BC
WUSTL
Texas
William and Mary
Washington and Lee
Any other schools I should be looking at?
By the way, thanks TLS community for your vast wisdom. I wouldn't even be close to schools in this range without you!

I had a 3.8 gpa and a 168 with few softs and got into UCLA with a ~$15k/yr scholarship. You have a higher LSAT so I'd assume you'd be poised for an even higher scholarship there if you applied. I have no personal experience with the others but I'm thinking you're good.
Edit: just noticed you had W&M on your list. They gave me $80k over the three years. Again, your LSAT is better so you'd probably get more.

The GW ED comes with an automatic full scholarship... that's a pretty good deal. I asked Anne Richard about it last fall. She's gone now so their policy could've changed, but she said to be competitive you need to be in the 3.8/168 range, which you are in, so you've got a good shot at it.

If this is true than an ED is a GREAT deal. But be sure that you want to go there. 3.8/168 will get you a look and maybe even some $ at most places outside the T6.hurldes wrote:The GW ED comes with an automatic full scholarship... that's a pretty good deal. CoL in DC is quite high, but GW still has an a longstanding rep especially for government type work in DC. Historically, it does far better than other t25s. So I would say that your best options are ED to GW for full ride or ED to UVa or Michigan and hope for the best. t14 without ED is probably a long shot but it could happen. Decide if gw is what you want and if so then EDing is a great choice. Your numbers are solid though, so try shooting for some higher ranked school (lower t14) + hoping for money in the t30 range if you choose not to ed to gw.
tl;dr ED to GW is the right call if you know thats what you want. ED to UVa may be next best choice.

based on LSN it seems that 3.8/169 gives a pretty decent shot at Duke, Michigan, Northwestern (with work experience), & Cornell even without ED.

Uh, what? This is almost all wrong. T14 without ED is a longshot? Cornell's graph says differently.Law Sauce wrote:CoL in DC is quite high, but GW still has an a longstanding rep especially for government type work in DC. And ED to UVA? Unlikely that will work, seeing as OP is below both medians. If he's interested, they give you a decision in two weeks, so it can't hurt to try, but that's the longest shot of all of the bottom T14.

I have to say, that GW ED full scholarship was a real tough one for me -- and I won't know if I made the right choice until after OCI. I have similar numbers and attending UMich now with a minimal scholly.

You have a good shot at GW's $105k scholarship through RD so I probably wouldn't ED.

I had almost your exact stats. I'm at Chicago now (though FWIW, I'm a rising 3L).
Aim higher.
