Chance me
Hey all,
I have been trying to flesh my school list out this summer since I received my LSAT score, and would really appreciate some advice on whether or not I will get into these schools. I am not interested in discussing retaking or anything like that, but would really just like to hear my admission chances. Thanks!
I am from Texas, but have strong connections in New York and would not mind practicing in the Northeast.
My stats are: 159, 3.68
Rutgers-Newark
Marquette
Syracuse
Villanova
Baylor
Texas
St. Johns

None are worth it. Villanova is the best out of those schools, but they didn't give me any money when I applied with 3.66/161. It is not worth sticker. The others are far worse (unless you want to work in Milwaukee, then Marquette would be ok, but not at sticker).CPM723 wrote:That is an option I am considering, but I am wanting to know about my current options.

Will I be able to get into the others? That is the only question I have asked.

So you want to know whether you should blow 150-200K in Waco, NYC, Syracuse, or Philly? I mean, pick a city. You'll get into a couple of them. I think you're pretty much a lock for Cuse. Honestly not sure about the other ones. Your GPA is too good to pay sticker at any one of these schools. Do you think investing 200K for a 10% chance at a decent job sounds like a good idea? Please retake and go to UT once you get a 167.CPM723 wrote:Will I be able to get into the others? That is the only question I have asked.

Re: Chance me
Syracuse-Likely admit
Villanova-Consider
Baylor-Consider
Texas-Deny
But this is just based off numbers...there are some other factors that could help, particularly with Villanova and Baylor.

I don't get that if you're so adamant that you only want to know what your chances are based only off numbers why you can't do the research yourself. It doesn't take long to learn that TLSers are an opinionated bunch...you had to expect it.CPM723 wrote:Will I be able to get into the others? That is the only question I have asked.

What kinds of factors would those be? I have very strong softs and personal statement, along with solid letters of recommendation. I have also had 2 internships with a DA's office.

You won't get Texas and the others will be too expensive to be worth attending.

Re: Chance me
I understand they will be expensive, but I will figure out the financial aspect after admission. What are my chances at the other schools besides Texas? I am applying to Texas a dream school scenario, and am not expecting to be admittted.

Re: Chance me
You could probably get into those other schools, but i urge you to consider a re-take. I know that it may seem repetitive because everyone on TLS says 'retake'; but it is truly a great idea. I had similar stats as you last cycle and found that the COA was really not worth the hassle so i re-took and got a 164. . . even though i still may retake again, the 164 compared to my 159 supplies a tremendous difference in scholly $$$.
Just think about it, that's all I'm saying.
Check out NALP while making this decision and consider how different you may feel with these sort of job options with let's say 150k debt v. 50k

Rutgers-N has (relatively) reasonable tuition, and you get in-state from day 1 as long as you move to NJ before school starts. If you're willing to stay in NJ to work, it's your best option with current stats, but of course higher LSAT gives more options.

Why would someone come onto these forums asking for advice and then not accept the best advice given to them?
