I have been looking at lawschoolnumbers and see a couple places that I could reach for but I want to hear from some experience. I have a 3.9 (honors) with a 162 (which I know I could have done better on). I would like to go to Ohio State since I would get in state tuition but I have been told that its a big reach, despite similar numbers getting in on lawschoolnumbers. I would retake but I am also going to take the GRE as I think about going to grad school as well.
What are some others that in your experience would take these numbers? OSU? Other Big Ten? My uncle went to Case Western and liked but I have heard it has gone downhill?
Thanks.

1) Don't go to law school if you have any reservations about being a lawyer. Law school is a large time and money committment, so if you are thinking about grad school; hold off until your ideas are more solidified.
2) You'll get into OSU, but probably at (instate) sticker, but you shouldn't waste that GPA like that. A couple more LSAT points and you'll get serious scholarship money from them, and you'll have a shot at a school like Michigan (I'm assuming you want to live in Ohio, so I'm sticking to the Midwest.) 4 more points, and you'll have an IU-B full ride, 6 more points and you'll have a WUSTL full ride if you are debt averse.

Agree with the above. Don't go until you are certain. And when you decide that you are, re-take.

Thanks for the advice. Good to hear that even with the low LSAT that OSU is still a good choice. If I do end up retaking, and score higher (I had been testing at 168-170), would a lot of schools look at both scores? I have read that getting only a small increase (163-4) would not help but could hurt? Seems like any increase is good

The only way that it (might) hurt is if you get a 172+ on your retake and aim for HYS. Schools almost universally do not average scores because they only report the highest score for ranking purposes. Anything that people (including admissions officers) tell you otherwise is not true.tycoon2go wrote:Thanks for the advice. Good to hear that even with the low LSAT that OSU is still a good choice.
