166 / 3.25
So I was one of those June test takers who stumbled a little bit (testing at a 172 average, got pulled over on test day and came in late) so Im weighing if I should retake or not. I know everyone would say with a 6 point drop I should absolutely retake however with the way my months of september and october are looking I dont know that Id be able to put a ton of focus into it. Anyways here are my targets:
OSU
UNC
Wake
Fordham
BC
Notre Dame
UW
Let me know what you think, and thanks for the help

Definitly retake...if you get into any of these schools, it'll be at sticker. 2 or 3 more points and you are looking at scholarships. And these are the level of schools that will not look down on a retake even if you do worse, they will just take the best score. Nothing to lose.

I have slightly higher numbers than you (3.3, 167) and I got dinged from BC and WL at Fordham.

You are definitely out at Fordham and BC. I got in off Fordham's waitlist w/ $ and dinged at BC with a 3.28 and 168.

It sure seems like BC has a pretty hard "floor" with GPA; I've noticed a lot of posts where acceptances have cut dead at the 3.4 25th percentile unless someone had 170+.

out at all - another pt or two would go a long way.
i'd throw some safeties in there. add IU: B and Iowa to your list also as you seem cool with the midwest.

Safeties will be Case, Cincy and Uconn. You really think Im out at OSU, Ive talked to some admin people and some current students and all seem to think Ill be extremely competitve and might even get a small aid package (5k a year)flexityflex86 wrote:out at all - another pt or two would go a long way.

If you got pulled over on test day, why did you not cancel your score? Anyway, if you really were prepping in the low 170s the obvious answer is to retake. Your GPA is low for most Tier 1 schools, so you need offset that with a strong LSAT. It will make a world of difference to your admissions and scholarship offers if you score at 170. Please don't convince yourself otherwise.

Re: 166 / 3.25
actually
OSU - solid chance
UNC - not so solid chance unless you are in-state
Wake - good chance
Fordham - not good chance
BC - not good chance
Notre Dame - decent shot
UW - good chance
Fordham and BC, yes those are longshots, but all the rest are definitely attainable w a good PS and a willingness to ride out the WL
Good luck
But if you are averaging 172 on PTs, retake

Thanks everyone for the help and yeah I definitely need to consider retaking but it just doesnt seem like a very viable option.
I guess Ill just have to whore the PS forum to try and kill it then send my apps out on day one and hope for the best
Didnt cancel because I knew retaking in October would be extremely frustrating and Im not convincing myself differently just dont think the actual process is feasible for me.Cade McNown wrote:If you got pulled over on test day, why did you not cancel your score?
