Hi,
My friend went to a very good undergrad, got around a 164 twice, and has a good GPA (better than an A- average). I think he should consider taking a course, maybe Kaplan or something. Does anyone have stats or anecdotes about how good these courses are? I went up a lot when I took a course, but I want some more evidence.
Thanks.

Did he get around a 164 twice on the real deal? Or on a PT?
He could take a course; kaplan's 'stratosphere' are for people who score high already and want to score higher. The problem is of course, the higher the score the harder it is to improve. I took a course with Kaplan, went from a steady 169 to170 steady PTs. I dont know if thats luck and guessing on one more right question or if its an actual improvement.

I went from 166 to 178 after taking the full length testmasters class. Your friend has to put in the time, though.

Yes. If he your "friend" has a 3.7+ GPA, an improvemenet on that 164 is TCR if s/he wants a T20.
