Chances 3.46 / 167 questions about URM status
Hey everybody, as subject states 3.46 gpa with an upward trend and 167 lsat from June. I am half puerto rican, half caucasian/white male but I look white. I have always identified both PR and white on any kind of admissions or standardized tests so I am not as sure of my URM status for law school. My numbers don't seem T14 material but how about T15-30 range? Specifically UIUC, UNC, USC, UCLA, George Washington, Notre Dame, William and Mary, Fordham, and Georgia. Thank you!

You'll get the bump if you write a good DS. I think you have some shot at lower T14 with those numbers and URM status.

You don't need to write a DS to get URM status. You simply need to identify as either an African American, Native American, Puerto Rican or Mexican American.
Certainly write the DS to enhance your application but it is not a prerequisite for the boost.
Good luck!
ETA: There is no typical DS. Just tell your story in the most compelling way possible. Many URMs don't even include a DS in their apps, and when they do, they may not even discuss race or ethnicity.

Re: Chances 3.46 / 167 questions about URM status
Okay thanks for the clarification and good wishes. I currently go to undergrad in Pittsburgh and would be interested in schools in major cities in New York, California, and Washington D.C. What does anybody think about admission/scholarship chances to these potential schools:
Cornell
Georgetown
George Washington
Boston U
UIUC
William and Mary
Fordham
UNC (out of state which i believe hurts my chances)
Georgia
Thanks for the help!

Just to clarify about the DS, some state schools need one in order to give you a bump since they are not able to legally practice affirmative action. That would apply to schools in CA and MI definitely and potentially other states.
Check out LSN for chances at the schools you listed below. I think you have a good mix of semi-reach, target, and safety but I don't know all of them that well.
