3.89/Cancel/163/165-- What are my chances at T14/ ED? Forum

Just got my score for the June 2011 test, under performed by about 7 points from my PT average the month before. Not planning a 4th retake.

Softs: Mostly average-Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, Judicial externship, internship for pro Bono Law Firm, RA for 2 years in college, and am going abroad to Asia to teach English for a year starting in September.

LOR- Strong-2 from professor, 1 from Judge

Personal statement- Compelling

Where should I send out an ED? I'm thinking Virginia, but NYU has me at a weak consider. Will the ED help me? Maybe Penn?

What are my chances at T14?

UVA ED is your best chance. NYU ED is very risky with your numbers and likely will leave you shut out of the T14 altogether.

It may seem inconvenient, but maybe you should retake one last time. I'm going to be abroad for a year and am seriously considering a fourth sitting in October. If you genuinely feel you can't do better than 165, ED to UVA on day 1 if you're okay with paying sticker.

If you do that, you'll know in 15 days. If you're dead set on T14, a retake couldn't hurt if you don't get in.

Thanks for the input, but why would ED NYU leave me shut out of T14 all together?

I don't think I want to retake 4th. I'll most likely be in China, and don't know how abundant testing centers will be throughout the country.

LSP has me at admit at USC, and I'd be happy to go there, but I still want T14!

I think NYU ED is a longshot since you're below their 25th LSAT. It could happen, but it just depends on how risk averse you are. If you ED to NYU and don't get it, I guess you could ED then to UVA. But you won't get in UVA without ED, so that's all that I meant. UMich might actually be a better ED option than NYU if you're interested.

Gotcha. I ED'd Mich last year before I ED'd Virginia, and got waitlisted at both. However, I applied in early November. This year I'll be applying the day apps come out.
