Curious as to why you think Berkeley would be out... seems like you have an excellent chance there.

You're overestimating it. Yes they are GPA whores but they aren't that insane.tng11 wrote:I've heard Berekley = GPA whore.Sheehan wrote:Curious as to why you think Berkeley would be out... seems like you have an excellent chance there.

And 3.8 looks pretty damn good to a GPA whore.

In at CCNMVPBDCNGtng11 wrote:Customary post, but I have an inkling of what my chances are anyways. ORM, TTT UG, a few Ws on my transcript, mediocre ECs and the 175 is the result of a 3rd score (I have a Cancel/165/175)
Would I be wrong to guess:
HYS = OUT, possible H waitlist
CCN = In for at least one of them
MVP = In or WL, need a "Why X"
Berkeley = OUT
DCNG = Possible large $ scholarships
WL or in @ H (probably in...)
?? at YS
Congrats on your LSAT & go celebrate

Re: 3.8/175
Is it actually greater than or equal to 3.8 LSAC? Harvard has this strong disdain for sub-3.8 GPAs, even if it is 3.799999. September apps sounds great, if you can target H in some way (specific recommendations, personalized (and strong) Harvard oriented PS, etc.), it could lead to a JR1.

TTT UG? doesn't really matter.tng11 wrote:So the really egregious combo of TTT UG/multiple W's on transcript/lacklustre softs really wouldn't categorically shut me out of HYS? Even for H, my GPA is pretty close to 25th and I didn't break 75th for the LSAT, so I would have guessed my chances were minimal. LSN shows quite a few outright denials in that range, and any acceptances seem to be elite undergrads (HYP).
Multiple Ws didn't count against your GPA? And when did they occur? If they were all in freshman year or some time early on, I wouldn't worry about it; but if they're spread out nicely, that could send your app to wait list or deny.
So if you have a good reason for the Ws, then you might want to write an addendum. Otherwise, just send your app in early and follow booboo's advice.

I personally wouldn't (and didn't) write an addendum for my Ws (I had several)...with the way my cycle turned out, the schools didn't seem to care about them

Hey man. You came up **huge** soaring from a 165 to a 175. In my view, you should first take a step back and celebrate. You could get into T-14 if you spam and maybe T-6 if you beef up e.c.'s.

In a very similar situation, early-mid Oct submit - no H. Except I didn't apply to Canadian schools...tng11 wrote:I'm expecting to be shut out of HYS at this point. (Complete at H in October, nothing from them so far). I went back to reread my PS today, and it is the biggest pile of steamed turd I've read for quite a few years. At least NYU bought it.
So it looks like I'll be attending a Canadian school, even if CC come through as I won't be expecting any $ from them. Will be updating in April where I decide to attend, but tentatively it will be Toronto.
