3.97/164
Hey, everyone.
I am looking to apply early in the upcoming admissions cycle to start in fall 2012. Ideally, I would like to live and work in either Philadelphia or NYC (but I am open to BosWash at large), so I am mainly looking to apply to the following schools:
Temple
Brooklyn
Cornell
Rutgers - Camden
Rutgers - Newark
Drexel
Cardozo
As stated, my numbers are 3.97/164 with a double major in political science and philosophy. I would appreciate your input on my chances of acceptance and possible scholarship opportunities. Thanks in advance!

Add BC, BU, and GWU to that list.

IBTaim higher and/or retake.
Seriously though, while you do have a solid LSAT score, that GPA needs to be coupled a 170+. With that, you would be basically a lock at CCN, and looking at scholarship money from the rest of T14. The schools you currently have on your list are not worthy of your numbers.

Can you add the October LSAT to that list? A 170+ opens up everything minus HYS. Send out your apps early and then update them if you improve your LSAT.

Remove Brooklyn, Rutgers (both), and Drexel from that list.D1989 wrote:Hey, everyone.

Revised list:
Reaches: Georgetown, Cornell
Focus on: GWU, BC, BU, American U, Fordham
(really safe) Safeties: Penn State, Cardozo, Temple
Some people with your numbers got off wait list @ T10 schools btw, and if you can retake for a 166+ score, you would have a much better shot at T14.

Re: 3.97/164
Thanks for the advice. I have contemplated a retake, and, while the 164 was my first and only shot, I had prepared with about 20 PTs and the LG and LR Bibles. However, it was only December of my junior year, on the Saturday preceding finals week (for a semester during which I was taking 21 credits). With those factors in mind, do you think a retake is wise? I don't have much disposable income, so it would be a gamble of whatever the LSAT cost is currently (and hours of studying, of course, but that doesn't at all bother me).MrPapagiorgio wrote:IBTaim higher and/or retake.

Re: 3.97/164
So the consensus is that BC and BU are good choices for me as well? I haven't considered them, particularly because I haven't been to Boston and the tuition seems steep, but those factors can be overlooked, since I've heard great things about Beantown and I'm sure those schools place well in the markets in which I would like to work.

Going from164 --> 170+ is worth easily $$$ to you. You're in a good situation already but if you retook to a 170+, you're golden.

err, my post wasn't anything like the generic "retake or die" statements commonly found on this forum...Deuce wrote:In before...

OP, you have a 3.97. It would be a travesty to let that GPA go to waste on the schools you listed. Please retake.
