< 3.0 GPA: Zero Chance @ Emory?
Sub-3.0 GPA (I figure there's no need to disclose more than that at this point), 169 LSAT.
What are my chances at Emory? Is it worth even applying? According to LSN, anyone with a GPA around my area gets WLed; can anyone share evidence about getting off the Emory WL with a poor GPA? Ty

2.9, 169 here also got a WL at Emory. In my experience, splitters can get off the WL at the T30 schools just by sending a few LOCIs their way (My ND and Fordham acceptances proving that.) I think this would especially hold true at Emory since they accept 166/167 sub 3.0 splitters regularly, so I think that it is a YP thing (thinking most people would take the 20k at WUSTL over the 10k at Emory).

Since we're below the 25%ile does it matter how far below 3.0 we are?NYCbound35 wrote:2.9, 169 here also got a WL at Emory. Think somewhere in the middle.RedShift wrote:I'm no expert, but I would expect Emory to prefer a 2.9/169 over a 2.2/169.Youppi315 wrote:Since we're below the 25%ile does it matter how far below 3.0 we are?

Check LSN...theres a bunch of mid 2.0s accepted with 166/167. You'll probably get a waitlist; just be willing to send a few emails or a visit to help yourself get off of it.

Applying earlier in the cycle might help. I was just above a 3.0 with a 166 and got in w/ 42k

Also, if you have any compelling reasons for your low UGPA that you could work into an addendum, that would certainly help

Where else should I look this summer? I'd like to have strong chances on the East Coast...or Chicago, if anywhere else. Conventional wisdom is Fordham at sticker is akin to suicide, right? Well, would they even admit me?

For Chicago, I'd take a crack at UIUC. They're pretty splitter-friendly...Youppi315 wrote:Where else should I look this summer?
