TO ED or not? Decide my fate!
170. 3.85. Good/averageTLS Softs. Amazing LOR's.
I want to live in NYC or Chicago. I would greatly prefer NYC. My application list will be:
NYU
CLS
Chicago.
Northwestern
I am prepared to apply September 1st. Should I ED Columbia or NYU? Or should I just apply on Sept 1 to both of them. How do you rate my odds?

That 185 should make you a lock for Yale. Don't ED.

Don't ED. One of CCN should take you and you'll want to use schollies from MVP down to negotiate your aid

Don't see why you think OP would be getting into one of CCN without ed. He is well below LSAT median at every single one of them and is only above median without hitting 75th GPA.bhan87 wrote:Don't ED. One of CCN should take you and you'll want to use schollies from MVP down to negotiate your aid
He will definitely snag MVP with $$ though. But if OP is dead set on one of CCN he should ED.

Bolded for emphasis of the important part. CCN are great but they are hard to swallow at sticker.bhan87 wrote:Don't ED. One of CCN should take you and you'll want to use schollies from MVP down to negotiate your aid

I am not debt adverse. I would gladly pay 100K to live in NYC over Ann Arbor.

Then you should ED to NYU or Columbia. I would say you have a better shot at NYU though.admisionquestion wrote:I am not debt adverse. I would gladly pay 100K to live in NYC over Ann Arbor.

He is AT both medians for UVA and Penn. Big money is not guaranteed. And good luck getting into UVA anywaypowerlawyer06 wrote:Bolded for emphasis of the important part. Yes, but does OP really want to risk attending CCN at sticker? With RD, OP has the luxury of choosing the most financially responsible decision.r6_philly wrote:Not guaranteed.dpk711 wrote:This.bhan87 wrote:Don't ED. Re: TO ED or not? Decide my fate!
I'd visit all 3 schools, then decide to ED either one of them (CCN). Your chances are better at Chicago and NYU, but Columbia is doable. Also check out the median from this cycle, you would want to be above the GPA median if possible (so split 1 up 1 down).admisionquestion wrote:r6_Philly: then what is your advice? Since all 3 are possible at a location you want, make sure you like the school you ED to.

I agree with R6. Not a lock at PVM or sure to get money. Higher LSAT, 3.83 GPA. In NYU, Penn. WL VM. Reserve C. Apply to all RD.

Re: TO ED or not? Decide my fate!
You got a shot at a fuck load of money at Northwestern. I wouldn't throw that away for ED at CCN. Especially since ED at those schools are less helpful. CCN don't care about yield.
In fact I don't ED'ing to CCN is a good choice unless you are splitter.

See: My cycle. Identical stats. Similar situation with softs/LOR. I have no work experience though, so take that into consideration.
I agree with DF that Northwestern would be a legit option with a good chance of cash. I didn't apply because of my 0 work experience.
I also started a thread in November about EDing to C/N. Although I was waitlisted all over the place, including those schools, I am very glad I didn't. I enjoyed seeing what my cycle gave me, and what kind of $ I had a chance for. ED=No $, which isn't the best scenario.

Not everyone needs to consider $. People who can afford it ED for peace of mind.pereira6 wrote:See: My cycle. Identical stats. Similar situation with softs/LOR. I have no work experience though, so take that into consideration.
