For the HYS/CCN you probably need 175+/170+

Retake. Don't waste your gpa on anything less than a 170.

thanks!
I heard Stanford has lower LSAT standard than Yale/Harvard.
Would 170 work for Stanford?

Yes, but your softs must be excellent. You should in particular ensure you receive excellent LORs, preferably from recommenders associated with Stanford's community. Stanford is a small, closely knit school and they pay particular attention to opinions given by one of their own.candy1234 wrote:thanks!

As the case stands, NYU is your best bet. 170/4.0 is probably good enough for Chicago. 172/4.0 will suffice for CLS. For Harvard, you should probably aim for not less than 173 (and more if possible). For YLS - eh, good luck.

Thanks a lot for your responses!
One more question is that.. If I apply ED for HYS, don't I have a slight more advantage than applying RD?
Then with my gpa, do i still need 173+ for Harvard?
173 seems like crazy impossible to me

HYS don't do ED because they don't have to. You definitely should retake and try to get above the 170 line. With your GPA and a 170, you have a shot at HYS, but its probably a long shot. If you get 173+ you will mostly likely get at least one of them. I went up from a 168 to a 177 so it does happen (although my 168 was way below my PT scores) but with some time and effort you probably could get at least a 170.candy1234 wrote:Thanks a lot for your responses!

Congrats on the great GPA! But from all that I've learned on this site, HYS are probably out because they all average scores. So, if a 4.0/173 would be enough to have a shot at Harvard, you'd probably need a 175+ to balance out your 168. And, as the poster above said, there is no EDing to HYS.

Where were you PTing before you got your 168? How long did you study, and what was your diag?

Well, I studied with Bible, my diag, i dont know because I knew I was really bad at first but did not really want to limit myself by saying like "Oh I got 150 so i should aim 165!" So I just started studying using Bible.crumpetsandtea wrote:RE: 173 seeming impossible...

I studied about 3~4months.
I spent about 25 PTs, so I still have 30 or more left. But the problem is that, for most of my PTs I consistently got 165~170. So Im afraid that even if I do 30 more I will still be stuck in that range.

I have almost identical stats as OP. Is NYU ED more likely than Chi ED w a 168/3.95 Bc of larger class size, or is it almost equal odds? Id be elated to squeak into either.

Probably NYU because Chicago cares more about LSATs. California schools (Berkeley and Stanford) are your best bet with high gpa low LSAT.dabird122 wrote:I have almost identical stats as OP. your LSAC GPA is 4.0 - this puts you above even the 75% of HYS. However, to be safe you'd need a 172 or higher.
For CCN, you'd need a 170 or higher.
Comments about 175+ are a bit unreasonable.

For Y & S, this is the case, but OP should be just fine for H if 172.WhirledWorld wrote:Not in this case. Your softs are pretty meh, at least for YHS. To stand out, you'll need the numbers. At this point, it's all speculation until you actually retake.

I feel like "just fine" is a little overly optimistic, at least with how I read that to mean. If by just fine you mean, "maybe 50/50 but definitely not an auto-ding" then I would agree.glewz wrote:For Y & S, this is the case, but OP should be just fine for H if 172.WhirledWorld wrote:Not in this case. Mostly don't do this because none of HYS has a binding ED application, or even an EA one.sonervous88 wrote:don't do this. seriously.candy1234 wrote:Thanks a lot for your responses!
