My husband is in the Army and we don't know where we will be moving next year until December 2011 (so I'm looking at Fall 2012 admissions). I am happy to entertain all suggested law schools as our location has not been decided.
I know the GPAs aren't awesome, but the subject matter helps (as does the LSAT score - tehe).
Any ideas for law schools that put more emphasis on the LSAT than GPAs? I also have work experience as an economist. Thanks!

You have no idea where he might PCS?

He is on the fence about getting out, so that's the difficulty. Otherwise it would be Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.
Ideally, I would like Vanderbilt, but that may not be possible.

Well, there aren't many law schools you can commute to from Leavenworth. Kansas City is pretty much your only city, and UMKC isn't a very good law school. U of Kansas would be manageable, but it's still a long commute and it's placement will be really regional, and that's gonna suck because right about the time you graduate, your hubby's gonna be ready to PCS, and he probably won't want to ETS this time cause I'm guessing he'll be over the 10-year hump or close to it.
So, unless you're cool with living apart for 3 years (probably a terrible idea), I'd start convincing him to get out of the Army. By the way, even if you don't go to law school, you should convince him to get out of the Army
Anyway, with that out of the way:
Your best bet is probably an ED application to a school like UVA, Georgetown, Penn, or Northwestern (if you have work experience), if you're willing to pay full tuition. If not, you might look at some schools ranked in the 20-30 range like Wash U, BU, BC, etc. that might give you substantial scholarship money. Those schools are going to be pretty limited in terms of placement so make sure you're cool with living/working where you go to school.

You crack me up! He is 99% sure getting out of the Army. He is right there at the 10 year mark... with 4 deployments under his belt.
While placement might be harder I am leaning toward your 20-30 suggestion for the funding.
I continue to consider a joint program... Econ PhD and JD... but I'm not quite sure I hate myself that much just yet.
