Is it Worth it?

Post by McGillGirl » Tue Feb 22, 2011 3:16 pm

I'll be applying to these law schools next year:
  • Berkeley
    Columbia
    NYU
    Chicago
    Georgetown
    UCLA
    UPenn
    Cornell
    Texas-Austin
    Vanderbilt
My stats/info:
  • 3.5CGPA
    3.65 best/last 2
    top Canadian university
    honours
    LSAT 167
    international work and volunteer experience
    fluent in 6 languages
    ~4 ECs
Wondering if it's worth applying there

Thanks in advance

Is what worth it? Applying to these schools? Going to law school? What are you asking?

Out at your top 7, so I would venture to say no it is not worth it.

I agree that you are likely out at the majority of those schools. http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com and http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com are good references.

If you want into those schools, I suggest retaking the LSAT and aiming for 170+.

As an international applicant your application needs to be very competitive to be admitted.
Start looking at class profiles & evaluating your chances.

Columbia for example:

Eh, I think you are unlikely to get into any of those schools listed. It may be worth it to send apps to the bottom three or so, but you need to add schools that you are more competitive at. If you want to get into some of those schools you really need a retake.

+1. I don't see OP getting into any of those schools unless he's a Texas resident. Maybe Vandy.
