Chances at t14-20 (3.05, 168, WE)? Fall '11 Cycle (Hypo 170)
History/Mathematics Major
3.05 GPA (gradual rise), 168 LSAT (considered re-taking but I practiced in the 169-171 range after taking the real thing so looks like I reached my ceiling)
LORs: I'd feel comfortable asking two work supervisors and one professor at my school (a solid name for what it's worth but not in the field of law)
Softs: >100 volunteering hours freshman-senior years (each year), student government judicial review board, community service coordinator for on-campus organization, president of student club
Work Experience: part-time experience sophomore-senior years; full-time WE summers between soph.-junior & junior-senior years; two years AmeriCorps VISTA legal aid (fee waivers for the win!)
Chances at:
Michigan (ED)
Virginia (ED) oos
Cornell
Northwestern
GULC (ED)
George Washington
Fordham
WUSTL
BU
Illinois
BC
Anywhere I'm missing?

i don't have advice for everywhere, but UVA ED would only let you in with a 170+, i guarantee it. michigan ED might be worth a shot bc they're a little more holistic but a 3.0 is a really low GPA. i'd say you're out of T14 with that GPA and i would consider EDing 15-20 if you really want to go somewhere ranked highClaytonR wrote:History/Mathematics Major

You GPA is not terrible, and your LSAT is not terrible. Assuming that you graduated and there is nothing you can do about your GPA anymore the only thing you can control is your LSAT score. I can't say for sure what will happen with regards to T-14, but with 170 I think you can crack T-14.

Are my softs/WE enough to push me over the edge (where I may have already been close) at a few schools? And enough to count as WE in Northwestern's eyes?Miracle wrote:I have a 3.1 170+ and secured myself seat at Michigan, GULC, and Cornell to name a few.ClaytonR wrote:What are my chances at the schools I listed the way things stand? ...and if I retake and score only 170?Miracle wrote:You need to raise your LSAT. If people with 2.8-2.9 GPA can get in GULC you can get in GULC or VA or Michigan. The only problem you have is your LSAT. You have to-HAVE TO, increase your LSAT to 170. It's not an option! ED somewhere, and you will be in a good position.
