3.65 / 175 / Fulbright
Hi all,
I recently got awarded a research Fulbright that I'm considering pursuing. I'm wondering if any of you have any idea if that will put me into the admit pile for HYS. Also worth bearing in mind is the fact that I come from an elite liberal arts school known for grade deflation (average GPA is like 3.1).

I don't really know for sure, but I'd say you'd probabably get at least one of the three (probably H).

Honestly, this is probably to optimistic. You will likely get shut or of hys with that gpa, but it's with the app feesShooter wrote:I don't really know for sure, but I'd say you'd probabably get at least one of the three (probably H).

I doubt it. A Fulbright and a 3.65 at somewhere like Swarthmore. HYS loves that kinda stuff even if the GPA is a little low. I bet you'll at least get Harvard.Patriot1208 wrote:Honestly, this is probably to optimistic. You see basically no one in these schools with gpa.s under 3.7 non urm. Op may have a chance but I wouldn't count on it.albusdumbledore wrote:I doubt it. Don't you have to get through one more selection round?

It's hard to say. When I stalked LSN, I saw a fulbright scholar with #s around yours get into Harvard (ok, lower LSAT + higher GPA, but I bet the index is similar), and one with higher #s get rejected.
It's impossible to say, but I feel that you have a good shot. Best of luck+congrats on the scholarship!
And... I had no idea you could get a Fulbright with a 3.65? In my college, the GPA cutoff is 3.7.

As far as I understand, Fullbrights are not actually as prestigious as laymen assume. Still, H is not entirely out of the question, though they seem reluctant to admit below 3.7s.Saiith wrote:Hi all,

Fulbright is nice, but my sense is it isn't enough to overcome a sub-3.7 GPA. I think you should be looking at Columbia/NYU, etc. Definitely do the Fulbright though, if for no other reason than it would be a fascinating and valuable experience.

this. HLS doesnt tend to dip below the 3.7 floor.hjag wrote:It's hard to say. When I stalked LSN, I saw a fulbright scholar with #s around yours get into Harvard (ok, lower LSAT + higher GPA, but I bet the index is similar), and one with higher #s get rejected.

to what country? if its anywhere in the UK it might help.. anywhere else and its basically just a way to get a killer PS and have some fun and think about whether LS is what you want.. I'm also in the final round of cuts right now and would have to either get a 2 year deferral which ive heard is almost impossible.. or reapply in 2 years

Definitely CCN, probably none of HYS. Not to say that there is no chance of HYS, but the odds are quite low.

1. Congrats on the Fulbright! 2. Good luck with the admissions cycle! 3. PM me if you get into HYS 4. I will then apply for Fulbright, too (Saiith wrote:Hi all,
