Re: 3.8 / 162 questions!
Honestly, I think all your schools are reaches. I have the same stats, with some really strong softs (government and legislative work, give or take 15 years' worth), and CU Boulder was my reach. I've been getting some nice scholly offers from schools a little lower on the list - University of Denver, Northeastern, etc.iSpool wrote:3.8 / 162, good softs/non-urm diversity, etc.
Just put my apps in -- I'd love some input on what my chances are at:
Finished apps:
Wisconsin - Madison
Indiana - Bloomington
Washington & Lee
UC Davis
Wash U. St. Louis
Emory
Possible apps:
U Colorado Boulder
Boston U
Boston College
U Iowa
U Minnesota
UC Hastings
George Washington
Anywhere else in the 20-30 range I should apply??
Thanks!!!!

It's good to be optimistic, but you need to apply to some safety schools, too. Have you seen Orange County?iSpool wrote:Reach for the moon and you'll land among the stars! Keep the faith, bro.

You are going to pay sticker at everyone of those schools you have as targets. I am sure I do not need to tell you how big of a mistake that is. Not to mention that you will get dinged at quite a few you have listed.
You need to apply to many more schools in the 40-75 range.

GMU is solid.
Throw an app into Case Western Reserve, Cinci and the like.
E-mail those schools and they will waive the fee. Personally, I think $$ at a school in the 50-55 range >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than sticker at a T1 in the 40-50 range. I do like GMU, though. Are you in-state?

Re: 3.8 / 162 questions!
I had same LSAT, lower GPA from a tiny private UG, and above average softs and was accepted at Davis and Hastings.
Worth a shot.

Re: 3.8 / 162 questions!
I have a lower LSAT, slightly higher GPA.
I'm IN at America, GMU, W&L, Ohio State, Loyola ($), Richmond (likely $), Kentucky. WL at GW and UVA. I was held at BC.
That being said, I applied earlier. But still, I think you have a good chance at some of those schools, judging from my cycle, at least.

Re: 3.8 / 162 questions!
QueenLizzie has done well. However, with #'s like 161/3.9 , 162/3.8, the extra .1 in GPA is much bigger than 1 LSAT point. They likely took queenlizzie for her 3.9 GPA and will offset her LSAT score with someone who holds a 167/3.0. With that being said, I think you still have a good shot as some schools and some good money at Case Western Reserve and some other high T2's low T1. Best of luck.

I've grown to dislike this cliche, especially when used on this board. I actually AGREE with the idea, but...iSpool wrote:Reach for the moon and you'll land among the stars! Keep the faith, bro.
...if you shoot for the moon and miss, you would actually end up floating around in the nothingness between the earth and the moon, possibly in the path of an asteroid.
