If you prefer CCN at sticker to small scholarships at lower T14's or larger scholarships to T15-30 then I say ED CCN.

Thanks for the advice so far. Quick bump to see if there are any other perspectives?

if you have a single school that you absolutely want to go to ( think that school or nothing) then I would say ED there. Otherwise, send out the applications and see how they roll in. See what offers you get, and run with it.

Got 54k at umich this cycle with a slightly lower gpa. So I wouldn't ed to mvp unless you really want P or V.

I wanted to bump this and see if I can get any new responses. I have continued to do research and believe I will either be applying ED to CCN or blanketing #4-17. Thanks! Any chance of merit money at P?

Check out lawschoolnumbers.com and see how much merit aid applicants with your numbers typically recieve at 4-17, this should give you a rough idea of how much aid you can expect to recieve. Ask yourself if a lower cost of attendence at 7-17 is worth loosing an admissions edge at CCN. Form a strategy.

Visit before ED'ing anywhere don't just listen to the "Its CCN/T6" argument that is on TLS and blindly ED. OP hasn't stated any career goals, desired location or debt aversion. If you visit and like one of CCN at sticker, then by all means ED to one. The only school you are looking at real merit money at is umich if you get in. (Unless you are a virginia resident in which case UVA would probably give you something) If you are ok paying sticker then I would visit all schools you are considering then look into ED'ing. I looked at just about everyone in our numbers range and what I found was most people ended up at MVP (only money at M) and a small handful of people who ED'ed into NYU or Chicago. If your cycle turns out anything like mine or people I saw you should visit and consider ED'ing or you might have your choice made for you. (Most people had gotten into one of MVP and then maybe Cornell/GULC). If you are willing to go outside of the T14 then maybe blanket the T-20 but don't expect too much money as a spiltter.

i retook a 163 and it's been kind of rough. i would say ED to CCN if you know where you want to go, otherwise I would compile a kick-ass PS and resume and apply as early as possible. with your numbers i would say with a why x you could garner $$ from T10-20. definitely at vandy/UT, possibly at Duke. i'm not sure if your masters GPA will entirely displace the avg. UG gpa, but i'm sure it will help!! Good Luck, and congrats on the retake!!

I think of CCN, I'd only ED to Columbia if I was you. I think you have good chances at RD with either NYU or Chicago.

I'm somewhat similar to you:
164->174, 3.45. Dont know how close those numbers really mean, but I would ED CCN. I personally ED'd Chicago after receiving a lot of advice on here, and I dont think I would have gotten in RD. Do some research and pick your fave CCN and ED. I dont know if you have a great shot RD at any so choose wisely.

Thank you to everyone for the advice. I think my plan is to visit each of CCN this summer and am leaning towards ED'ing at one of them but I don't think I can make that kind of commitment without checking out each school IRL.

I'm just going to say that ED to NW seems like the worst decision you could make. With 3 years WE you will already be very competitive there, and you're very competitive at MVP already too. Also to echo what someone said, I think you probably have a decent shot at landing one of CCN without ED, hence I vote blanket 4-17.

Re: (Next Cycle) 162 retook to 173, 3.55 GPA
Since you have the entire summer to plan/ visit and research schools ( i know its not going to be the same b/c the students are not going to be on campus, but at least you could get a feel for the area and school)- I would not worry so much about wheter or not to ED anywhere. You have a very compeititve application( if a school averages your average lsat is a 167.5)- and i think it would be better off to use your time to research schools, and places in the country to live. Blanket the T14( including 14B) and spend as much time as possible visiting. You have about a year to visit all of the places, and determine if there is one school/ area that you absolutely fall in love with. If you do- then maybe you could ED ( but try to find out if you are eligile for scholarships with an ED app, or if you are going to be paying full sticker first), but I think your best option would be to start making your own ranking list of schools and places, and then see how your cycle plays out- and compare the results ( including scholly money).
Best of luck- congrats!!!

Re: (Next Cycle) 162 retook to 173, 3.55 GPA
How my cycle ended up a year ago with similar stats (174/3.56), 3 total takes (previous scores in the low 160's and mid 160's), and a similar masters GPA (no-name UG and no other good softs really):
Stanford- Rejected
Columbia- WL
Chicago- WL
NYU- WL
Michigan- WL
UVA- In with 20k/yr
Penn- Deferred-->No Why Penn or LOCI-->Rejected
Berkeley- Rejected
Northwestern- In, no scholarship
Duke- WL
UT- In, and they matched UVA's money + instate discount
Before applying I was torn between applying ED to Chicago or not. UT and Chicago were probably my top choices. I wasn't confident enough that I wanted to commit to paying at sticker so I didn't ED anywhere. Visit CCN and decide if attending at one at sticker is worth it. If your goal is biglaw, Columbia ED seems like a pretty good choice. If you don't ED to CCN, just apply everywhere but HYS. If you ended up thinking MVP with $$ is your dream, choose the one you like best and tell them they're your top choice school and hope for cash.
