3.1 GPA. 167/173 LSAT. ED UVA Chances (for next cycle)
I just got my Dec LSAT score back and got a 173 (improved from 167 in Oct). My softs are average at best. What are my chances if I ED UVA as soon as it's available for next cycle.

Why not ED this cycle?LeBum James wrote:I just got my Dec LSAT score back and got a 173 (improved from 167 in Oct). My softs are average at best. What are my chances if I ED UVA as soon as it's available for next cycle.
You've got a chance at Michigan and Northwestern (if W/E) RD.

I'm not ready for law school truthfully. My PS isn't even started and I don't want to go until next cycle.Desert Fox wrote:Why not ED this cycle?LeBum James wrote:I just got my Dec LSAT score back and got a 173 (improved from 167 in Oct). I'll have 1.5 years WE at a good firm but not a prestigious job. Also, I have two misdemeanors I have to report even though I went on diversion. How does alcohol related crime affect my app? 1 count of Criminal Damage to Property and 1 Count of Criminal Trespass.

The work experience should help offset the misdemeanors, both by making you look more responsible and by separating you from them through time.LeBum James wrote:I'm not ready for law school truthfully. Just get your app together and apply in September.

I think I might retake. 173 was my average during PTs for Dec but I think I can increase my average by June.

If you apply next year you got a shot at Michigan, Northwestern and probably in for sure at Gtown if you apply to those schools RD. In at UVA if you ED in Sept, out otherwise. You'd definitely get NU ED as well. Michigan ED isn't as easy to predict but I bet you get it.LeBum James wrote:I'm not ready for law school truthfully. If you don't care where you go ED UVA. But if you have a Mich or NU preference ED there. Or if you aren't ready to decide just apply broadly and see what happens.

This would be an utter waste of time. You won't increase your chances at any school by doing so.LeBum James wrote:I think I might retake. 173 was my average during PTs for Dec but I think I can increase my average by June.

Really? I think I could realistically get a 176. You saying I shouldn't bother? If so, that's great news!Desert Fox wrote:This would be an utter waste of time. You are already over the 75% LSAT for every school that will take you with your GPA.LeBum James wrote:Really? I think I could realistically get a 176. You saying I shouldn't bother? Hmm. Thanks for the advise. Anyone else think the same (that I shouldn't retake)?Desert Fox wrote:You are already over the 75% LSAT for every school that will take you with your GPA.

I would not retake. Apply regular decision this cycle to MVP (or whoever you fancy) and defer if you can. I think with a good PS you stand a good chance at getting into UVA ED next year if that is really what you want to do.

If you're going to apply and defer now, you're better off waiting to apply till next cycle.Moral_Midgetry wrote:I would not retake. It's cheaper at least. There's no way I could get a quality personal statement out fast enough to apply for this cycle anyways.bk187 wrote:If you're going to apply and defer now, you're better off waiting to apply till next cycle.Moral_Midgetry wrote:I would not retake. When you say "if I don't care where I go" are you implying that ED UVA is pretty much an auto-IN? Thats what it kinda seems like.Desert Fox wrote:If you don't care where you go ED UVA. Truthfully, I haven't done my research yet. Now that I have my numbers, I'll look at the programs and decide where I want to go. With the little I know about each school, UVA seems to be my favorite so far.

In early September it's pretty damn near auto in.LeBum James wrote:When you say "if I don't care where I go" are you implying that ED UVA is pretty much an auto-IN? Research those three schools and see what you like.
