160/3.7 - Will softs push me over the edge?
My LSAT score was a 160 with and my LSAC GPA is 3.7
I went to a small college, am currently working as an engineer (have been for 2 years), graduated with honors, graduated from the honors college, I'm not an URM
When I've researched my numbers on all of the websites, I find that I'm boarder-line on the schools that I'm applying to:
Wisconsin
American
W&L
Minnesota
Illinois
Are my softs unique enough to get me in?

Probably not. They aren't really that unique. Half the people in law school graduated with honors and plenty of people with engineering backgrounds. Softs that truly provide a substantial boost tend to be things like Olympic medals, being the president of a small country, etc.bucky0486 wrote:My LSAT score was a 160 with and my LSAC GPA is 3.7

Your LSAT is way too low for those schools.

How can you say that? Wisconsin's, for example, 25th/75th LSAT scores are 156/163

While it's true that your softs aren't that unique, you do have 2 years of work experience and an engineering background is definitely not the norm for law school applicants. I would say you're out at Minnesota and Illinois but you have a shot at W&L and even better one at Wisconsin and American. Your lsat is definitely not "way too low" for those schools.lawschooliseasy wrote:Probably not. They aren't really that unique. 25/75 mean nothing, its about their median, however I believe their medians are a 161 and 3.5x, so you have a shot there, but not a good one after looking at LSN. American you will get into though. Out everywhere else I would guess. I would suggest a retake, you have a great GPA and just a few more LSAT points will not only get you into these schools, but possibly a hefty scholarship. agreed. i would think the urm population brings down the actual median enough that to have a decent shot you need to be above median even with a 3.7 (not that thats a bad gpa, just not stellar) I would suggest retake for this lineup if you really want to have a realistic shot at no only some options but cash is always nice as well.SupraVln180 wrote:25/75 mean nothing, its about their median, however I believe their medians are a 161 and 3.5x, so you have a shot there, but not a good one after looking at LSN. I know this is really hard to hear, but it's the truth. You have a great GPA - is there a reason you can't retake? Add 5-6 points on the LSAT and your possibilities change, dramatically.SupraVln180 wrote:25/75 mean nothing, its about their median.bucky0486 wrote:lawschooliseasy wrote: Your LSAT is way too low for those schools.

Your stats are probably worth the application fee - you have a decent chance.
