I wouldn't say definitely out at UVA if you apply ED.. are you a Virginia resident though?
I'm assuming no from your name..

Really that little chance at cornell? Even though their median is 167, and 3.8 is above their median? Tits..

Re: 167 / 3.80 --- chance me
Nope, definitely out. Their ED process works as follows:BlueDiamond wrote:I wouldn't say definitely out at UVA if you apply ED.. are you a Virginia resident though?
1) Take a splitter (~3.5, 170+). The LSAT must be above median (170) at the start of the cycle and needs to be above 75% at this point.
2) Take a reverse-splitter (3.86+, 165+ depending on precise GPA). They need a GPA above median (3.85) to balance out the above admit. Like 1), later in the cycle you will need a GPA at/above 75%.
Unless you're in-state, that's just how it works at UVA for ED admissions. They control their medians in this way.

With this new information, you are out at UVA almost for sure. UCLA and Cornell are toss ups. I know you would be out of Georgetown FT for sure but i'm not sure about the PT.NorCalBruin wrote:Nope. Not a Virginia resident. Cali...

Cornell EA - 50%
Virginia (ED) - out
UCLA - 20%
Georgetown PT - out
USC - in probably with $
With Texas in hand, I wouldn't bother with the last 3. I'd also add Vandy, where you're likely in with $.

Is UCLA/Vandy considered harder to get into than Cornell?im_blue wrote:Cornell EA - 50%

Vandy 3.72 / 169
UCLA 3.77 / 168
Cornell 3.70 / 168
It's not as simple as saying one school is more selective than another. Medians give you a rough idea of average selectivity, but since these 3 schools are so close together, you'd also have to consider the applicant's exact numbers. For a weak reverse splitter such as OP, the chances are Vandy > Cornell > UCLA. For someone with different numbers, say 3.70 / 168, it'd be Cornell > UCLA >> Vandy.

Everyone dropped some knowledge bombs. Thanks. Guess I'll be hoping for that 168 or 169 on the retake.
Cool tits.

Would you say 75th/25th matter also? Since both Vandy/UCLA have higher 75th LSATs and higher 75th GPA than Cornell.2010 Medians:
Vandy 3.72 / 169
UCLA 3.77 / 168
Cornell 3.70 / 168

Re: 167 / 3.80 --- chance me
In general, you can compare the 25th/75th of schools with similar medians to see which are relatively friendly to splitters (low 25th GPA / high 75th LSAT) or reverse-splitter friendly (low 25th LSAT / high 75th GPA). For example, you can compare USC's 166 - 167 - 169 vs Minnesota's 159 - 167 - 168 to see that the latter accepts many more reverse splitters.whymeohgodno wrote:Would you say 75th/25th matter also? Re: 167 / 3.80 --- chance me
if OP doesn't get into UVA ED does it make sense to then go EDII to Duke or ED to Gtown or are those just not happening if UVA ED didn't happen?

Those probably won't happen either. Maybe Gtown is worth a shot but don't expect much.Perch wrote:if OP doesn't get into UVA ED does it make sense to then go EDII to Duke or ED to Gtown or are those just not happening if UVA ED didn't happen?

Not sure, to answer your question, but I'd guess OP is out of both other schools as well.

Duke/GULC ED are unlikely, and UVA ED definitely is not happening.Perch wrote:if OP doesn't get into UVA ED does it make sense to then go EDII to Duke or ED to Gtown or are those just not happening if UVA ED didn't happen?
