Re: Chance me at HLS
Two questions that seem to matter:
1) Do you have WE or are you in UG?
2) Did you go to a highly ranked/prestigious UG?

I presumably will have WE (which I mentioned).bdubs wrote:Two questions that seem to matter:

And no.

Re: Chance me at HLS
Are you saying that you mentioned an intent to defer in your application? I don't see any mention of work experience in your OP. I think its harder to predict since you didn't go to a top-tier school, chances are not zero but not >~30% IMOgbpackerbacker wrote:I presumably will have WE (which I mentioned).bdubs wrote:Two questions that seem to matter:

independent study is not work experience. lack of prestigious undergrad makes it tough. if you have your heart set on HLS, get an awesome job, reapply in a year or two.gbpackerbacker wrote:I presumably will have WE (which I mentioned).bdubs wrote:Two questions that seem to matter:

Lol it never crossed my mind that OP considered an independent study to be WE.cortnf wrote:independent study is not work experience. lack of prestigious undergrad makes it tough. if you have your heart set on HLS, get an awesome job, reapply in a year or two.gbpackerbacker wrote:I presumably will have WE (which I mentioned).bdubs wrote:Two questions that seem to matter:

I mentioned that I am willing to defer in my app. I didn't mean to imply that I was considering an IS as WE.Patriot1208 wrote:cortnf wrote:independent study is not work experience. lack of prestigious undergrad makes it tough. if you have your heart set on HLS, get an awesome job, reapply in a year or two with a retaken LSAT that is much higher.gbpackerbacker wrote:I presumably will have WE (which I mentioned).bdubs wrote:Two questions that seem to matter:

I think you will stand a much better shot as a re-applicant in 1-2 years.gbpackerbacker wrote:I mentioned that I am willing to defer in my app. I didn't mean to imply that I was considering an IS as WE.

Even with 1~2 years of WE I don't think HLS will happen for your #s. LSAT is too low, unless you're a URM.

It's not so unfathomable. Especially if your WE is impressive.kazu wrote:Even with 1~2 years of WE I don't think HLS will happen for your #s. LSAT is too low, unless you're a URM.

Note that the two accepts who disclosed UG were "HYP" and "Top 15"

Exactly. Not a prestigious UG, and I don't think 1~2 years is enough to get impressive WE. Therefore, it's possible, but highly unlikely.bdubs wrote:It's not so unfathomable. What I'm trying to say is don't push apps off for a couple of years *just* to get into HLS. If your reasons are something other than that, though, then nevermind.

also note that the "top 15" was 1-2 years out of undergrad. #grainofsaltbdubs wrote:It's not so unfathomable. Especially if your WE is impressive.kazu wrote:Even with 1~2 years of WE I don't think HLS will happen for your #s. LSAT is too low, unless you're a URM.

Re: Chance me at HLS
3.9+/170-171 does not get HLS without some game-changing soft such as top UG or WE. Retake for a 172-174.
