3.45/ 170/ Ph.D from Johns Hopkins.
Essentially the subject is me in a nutshell. I did my undergrad at UC-Irvine and did relatively ok 3.45 GPA. I double majored in Biological Science and Sociology. I have my PhD in genetics from Hopkins and have published in several big name journals.
I'm interested in getting into patent law (..not patent agent) and into intellectual property type stuff. I've thought through my decision long and hard and am currently putting together my application.
Where do you think I have a realistic shot at?
TY!

Well yes. I worked for 2 years in a genetics lab at Yale prior to going to graduate school.

I had 3.56/172 and a Hopkins PhD and got waitlisted everywhere I applied in the T20 except Duke, where I got in on the priority track with a 1/3 scholarship, and WUSTL with 1/2 scholarship. So yeah, go ahead and apply 7 - 17. You'll probably get in somewhere. But also apply lower. I ended up taking full tuition at a T50.

I would probably be willing to pay the price of the lottery ticket to Yale. Probably have very little shot, but since their admissions decisions are reportedly holistic, I'd pony up the cash for the app.

Not late, but not early. I took the December LSAT and had most apps in by mid-Jan. It's possible that I had some deficiencies in my PS or something, but I don't know.

Wow, thats discouraging. Sorry man. A full ride at a T1 ain't too bad, though.yeast master wrote:I had 3.56/172 and a Hopkins PhD and got waitlisted everywhere I applied in the T20 except Duke, where I got in on the priority track with a 1/3 scholarship, and WUSTL with 1/2 scholarship. 1/3 scholarship at Duke isn't bad, either! Especially for a mid-January applicant.whitman wrote:Wow, thats discouraging. Sorry man. To OP- if you apply in the next few weeks, you'll likely see much more pleasing results than yeast master. Apps submitted post- thanksgiving are even at a disadvantage.

I suppose so. It's a little silly that two to three months before the deadline is late, but I guess there are a lot of eager beavers out there. I didn't even think about going to law school until October. No regrets, though. I'm glad I'm going to school for free.plenipotentiary wrote:Yeah, dude, that's late.yeast master wrote:Not late, but not early. I took the December LSAT and had most apps in by mid-Jan.
