3.3 awaiting LSAT. is it hopeless for T14?
I have about a 3.3 GPA, and I'm taking the december LSAT. I plan to try my hardest to rape it. So if I get a perfect/near perfect score on the LSAT. Do I have a chance at T14? Particularly Columbia, or NYU? I graduate this winter, I did an extra semester. I go to a state school and majored in Philosophy, minored in Math. I'm trying to get some grade appeals done to see if I can boost my GPA.

T14 is not hopeless assuming 170+. CLS/NYU are still unlikely even with a 180 though possible.

I hope the LSAT "rapes" you.

He's taking in Dec., won't be able to apply ED I think.Bumi wrote:Score 170, ED to Virginia.
I'll be graduating with a 3.35 in December, also taking the Dec test. If you look at LSN or LSP you'll see that you can get into most of the t14 with a high enough score. Right now I'm scoring 165, hoping to get 169 on test day, which should get me into GW and/or USC, my two top realistic hopes. Mind if I ask where you're scoring now and where you think you'll end up scoring?

He will still be able to apply ED to UVa, but its effect may be diminished.2011Law wrote:

Re: 3.3 awaiting LSAT. is it hopeless for T14?
possible. need an LSAT above 75th percentile to a given school.
there's a bigger diff between a 2.9 and 3.3 than between a 3.3 and 3.7 based off of law school numbers. 3.3 is not eye-brow raising low, but numbers wise brings down their 25th percentile so you have to give them something to bank on.
HYS obviously won't care about your 180. Columbia would, but maybe not enough to accept. NYU would probably accept with a 175+. I know people with a 3.3 who have gotten into NYU with a 175.

You can get T14 with a 170+, and even have a small chance with a 168-169.

where is he getting in with a 3.3 and 168? these are fordham numbers.... maybe.im_blue wrote:You can get T14 with a 170+, and even have a small chance with a 168-169.
is OP URM? if so, 168 and 3.3 puts 5-14 in play. if not, those are not good enough. i'd bet a grand with 10 to 1 odds s/he is rejected across the board.

T14 with ED definitely likely w/ 170+, CCN usually has a floor of 3.5 so I'm gonna say no go on that

Wrong. 175+ will get him in NYU with ED and 176+ will get him in CLS with ED. So if, you kill it you can break the top 6. Otherwise, like everyone else said break 170, you got a shot at the lower T14.bk187 wrote:T14 is not hopeless assuming 170+. CLS/NYU are still unlikely even with a 180 though possible.

a 175 and 176 won't for sure get OP in to those schools, they still aren't good chances. But OP would have a small chance.SupraVln180 wrote:Wrong. 175+ will get him in NYU with ED and 176+ will get him in CLS with ED. So if, you kill it you can break the top 6. Re: 3.3 awaiting LSAT. is it hopeless for T14?
Agreed. There would be a small chance with 175+ but I still think with a GPA that low the OP is more likely a waitlist than anything even if they manage a score that high. To say that a they definitely will get CCN is wrong with a 3.3.Patriot1208 wrote:a 175 and 176 won't for sure get OP in to those schools, they still aren't good chances. Columbia: http://columbia.lawschoolnumbers.com/st ... Cycle=1011 .
No non-URM outliers back this.
NYU: http://nyu.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/0 ... Cycle=1011
Only one that backs this went to a top canadian school, & I'm not about to take that as evidence.
If it's possible, you're hearing this from friends? People who go to to the schools?
I wish LSN were mandatory. That'd be so hott.

Re: 3.3 awaiting LSAT. is it hopeless for T14?
You have to look at more than one cycle sometimes; there are really only a handful of 3.0-3.4, 175+ applicants on LSN every year (most people who score that high get better grades, lol) and half of them leave their statuses as "pending". Most are waitlisted and many never update their waitlists either so really, it's hard to get a grasp on where splitters end up at all.CGI Fridays wrote:Based on???SupraVln180 wrote:Wrong. 175+ will get him in NYU with ED and 176+ will get him in CLS with ED. Columbia once accepted a 3.2/177 on LSN - the profile indicates that it was an international applicant but had an LSDAS GPA so I'm not totally sure what that means. There was also a 3.4/179 that got in last cycle, I think, to give you an idea of the rigidity of their 3.5 floor. As for NYU, I know there's been some members of TLS in that range that have been accepted to NYU from scouring older posts, but hell if I can find where those posts were. I want to say there was a 3.15/180 as well? Basically, splitters are always a crapshoot when it comes to the T6 - a 175 will get you above the "absolutely no chance in hell" bar of the 3.3, but even a 180 won't keep you safe.
Also, OP, take the LSAT and then count your chickens.
Edit: as a splitter myself, I 100% second mandatory LSN. Not that I don't like studying the same two dots of people with my number.

Perhaps he's an underrepresented minority. You didn't specify racial minority. Maybe he likes Lindsay Lohane. This would make him an underrepresented minority in law school.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
