GPA: 3.8, chemical engineering, state college, would have been 3.95 except I had to drop a class after the drop date which goes on my transcript as a W but counts for LSDAS as a 0 correct? Anyway, I'm going to write an addendum for that

No comment on your chances, but unless your school hands out punitive Ws your GPA will remain the same (unless your school also hands out the coveted A+ award).

Your school options will seriously go to the next level if you retake and get like 3 or 4 more points. If you are set with your score, then yeah, I'd aim mostly in that 20-30 range of schools.

3.95, 166 would have a good shot at Boalt, especially if you are a California resident. If not I still think you have a decent chance given their lowered medians this year.

Retake could be useful though.
