The upward trend will be considered but not heavily weighted, you can count on it as a soft at best. As far as your numbers I would say hit up some 20-40 schools and definitely retake if you think you improve on the 166. If you can crack 170 it will open a ton of new doors for you (but any improvement could help your chances). Good luck.

I would even consider holding off applying to next cycle rather than rush yourself for December if you aren't ready to take the test at that point.

I would shoot some applications out, if you are considering waiting a year and see what comes back.

I think you can get into a top 50 with those numbers, however, it would be a lot better to bump it up. It always is.
