I have a 3.87 gpa from an Ivy Leauge, URM.
I prepped and prepped for the lsat the entire summer and also took a course. My starting lsat before I prepped was 153.
Now, I can get anywhere from 159-165 on practice tests.
I can just as easily get a 159 as I can a 165 on Oct 9th when I take my first REAL lsat.
Yet my future depends on this ONE test.
A 159 vs. 165 will make ALL the difference in what schools will ultimately accept me.
So UNFAIR!
Anyone else feel the same way. 4 hard years of studying and my future hinges on one exam!

It's kind of unfair but on the other hand it's fair because undergrad GPA can be inflated and depends so much on what major you are also.

And LSAT is the only real standardized way of knowing how you stand in comparison with other applicants.

If it's any consolation, your URM status will give you considerably higher reach, whatever score you get.

I'm in a similar situation (only I'm not a URM). I have a 3.94 GPA and have flatlined in the low-mid 160s on PTs (I've had more 163s than you can shake a stick at). Would it be nice if I could score higher? Of course. Do I dwell on my limitations? Not really... and you shouldn't either.

Your future doesn't depend on one test. See, after law school you have to take this thing called the bar exam. It's pretty important from what I understand. Thus, your future depends on at least two tests.
