2.6, 160 non-URM w/ 5+ years journalism work experience
I graduated from a somewhat prestigious public university in 2005 and have worked journalism jobs in both NYC and DC since then...my low gpa in school was due to having an intense position at the school newspaper and another job at a liquor store.
I'm PT'ing in the high 150's-low 160's and hope to hit 160+ on October 9th.
What are my chances with a 160?
Thanks.

Which schools do you hope to apply to?

I'm hoping for University of Miami...but also thinking about DC schools like American, GWU, and Mason--a reach would prob be Maryland.OmbreGracieuse wrote:Which schools do you hope to apply to?
I would say GU and the others but I know that's probably out of the question.
Please let me know what you think.

D.C. schools that you may have a chance at: American and Catholic. GWU is definitely out, barring a remarkable LSAT (168+?). You'd probably need a 164 for a shot at George Mason.

either go to American or FIU, or work on hitting a 172 LSAT and pray to god that Northwestern lets you in.

Good question. That GPA is so unordinarily low. I know someone who made it in there with a low 3-something GPA and a 155 (he should be class of 2011). Miami has moved up since then, but I'm not certain of their numbers. In all honesty, if you are out of school, and really want to go to some of these school, study straight for the next two months and take it in December.
That's what I did.

Oh, and this thread is almost meaningless until you get a LSAT score.

Come back when you get an actual LSAT score. Then, people will the probably tell you to retake if you get the scores you're PTing at now. You just can't get into many (any?) schools worth going to in this economy with those numbers.
