Lets roll the dice!
Give me odds. LSN isn't nearly as fun as this.
Stats - LSAT - 165, GPA 3.52, Bio major, upward trend, Teach For America
BC
BU
Cornell
Duke
Fordham
GWU
Vanderbilt
UNC
UPenn
UVA
William and Mary

Re: Lets roll the dice!
Lets be honest, LSN is a way better predictor then the responses here but just for fun heres a guess:
In: UNC, BU, BC, Fordham
Waitlist: GW, Vandy, Cornell
Out: Duke, Penn
With those numbers but nice but not unremarkable softs the only thing I'd say is that Duke and Penn are unlikely unless you are a URM and you should get into UNC - the rest nothing would surprise me

Oh I see. In that case, there's nothing wrong with applying to Duke, Penn, UVA and maybe Vandy. I just think you have about a 0-5% chance at those. A compelling app might do the trick though. good luck!NOLA Proud wrote:mfeller2 wrote:BC-WL/In

Then apply, but you are for sure out at Duke, Penn, UVA, Cornell, and Vandy. Very likely out at GW, and I think BU/BC are quite possibly WL-->out.NOLA Proud wrote:mfeller2 wrote:BC-WL/In

If TFA ties into your story and purpose really well, I think you have a good chance at all these schools. Too bad you don't have a couple more LSAT points. T-50 school too?

Re: Lets roll the dice!
I'd be shocked if TFA was such a big boost that it put a 3.5/165 into a T10, or even a T20. But I am far from an expert on TFA law school applicants. I think the general consensus is that it is a pretty great soft, but it isn't going to add 4-5 LSAT points, which is what your average applicant would need to have a shot at the T10 with a 3.5s0ph1e2007 wrote:If TFA ties into your story and purpose really well, I think you have a good chance at all these schools. But yeah, I agree... apply if it is free.

I'm not sure what people are smoking, but the responses so far have been unrealistically optimistic.
BC-out
BU-out
Cornell-lol don't waste your $
Duke-u srs?
Fordham-w/l, then you'll get a call in the middle of May saying that you're in
GWU-w/l, show them you're desperate enough and you might have a chance to get in over the summer
Vanderbilt
UNC-in
UPenn-wut?

Re: Lets roll the dice!
How'd you get TFA with your GPA? I thought they were really selective?

Re: Lets roll the dice!
With my 166 and slightly worst GPA, I applied to some of the same schools as you and got:
BC - WL/in
BU - WL/out
Cornell - WL/out
Fordham - WL/withdrew
GWU - WL/out
Vanderbilt - rejected
UVA - rejected
UPenn - rejected
So unless TFA really is one of those softs that can make up for the LSAT, it wouldn't count on any of those (though with the free apps, by all means try, just have some safeties or be ready to retake/reapply). Dunno about, Duke, UNC, or William and Mary, but I'd guess out at Duke, decent shot at the other two. Apply early and good luck!

Re: Lets roll the dice!
I know quite a few ppl who applied with to law school after doing tfa, and for most, it didn't make or break them. They got in where their numbers said they would. Those who it did help were hella intelligent/insightful/interesting on top of being in tfa. If you're applying to edu programs (which i'm assuming you're not, but fwiw stanford has a great edu leadership program) the boost may be substantial.
