With a GPA of 3.2 what's the advantage of a 170 versus 160?

For URM and non-URM?

For a rough idea, go to http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com/ and try it with a 160. Then try it with a 170, and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies.

LSP does not adjust for the major. For example a 3.7 with 160 lsat has must better LSP prospects than a 3.2 and 165(what if the 3.2 is EE from MIT). That being said LSP has the same flaw no matter the parameters; hence I asked in the forum hoping individuals knew of anecdotal evidence.

The LSAT's you are citing are more different than you may realize. 1 point is a big deal in modern law school admissions. 10 points is a ridiculously huge difference. Best to come back when you have a real LSAT to go with your GPA (is it your GPA...?)

Thanks

yes, the 3.2 and 160 are my actual numbers.

My inquiry was more of curiosity, than a decision item. I have other items going against me, thus will go for what my scores warrant and if scholarship aid is less than my employment prospects would afford, I'll pass.

Major and school are 99.99% irrelevant to admissions.

What matters is being above or below the median GPA/LSAT scores for a given school. Roughly:

above both = good chance
above one, below one = 50/50
below both = little to no chance

agreed.

The numbers are what they are.

Keeping it simple.(apply where gpa and lsat are above the 75 percentiles) NO excuses

Apply where GPA or LSAT are above median. 3.2 is not going to be above almost any medians, let alone 75th.

Yes. The site was down for about 30 mins or so, probably he clicked "Submit" that many times because it wasn't going through.

At our orientation yesterday one of the speakers told us if we had an LSAT 3 points different in either direction we wouldn't be there. As in, 3 points higher we'd have picked a better school, 3 points lower they wouldn't have let us in.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
