Okay, Probably not retaking LSAT, maybe, but Probably not
156, 3.45, Va Tech UG Info Tech
Non-Traditional 10 years Work Experience,
Honorable service in the Navy
Reaches:
SMU, fL. State, Iowa
Possibles:
Penn St. Case Western, Cincinnati, Catholic, Miami
Good Chance:
Indiana-Indy, Stetson, MSU, Memphis-Cecil, Wayne, LSU
Does this look like a realistic list in terms of how I broke them down??
My goal is to limit debt as much as possible unless I am able to get into one of my reaches. Would probably choose Memphis if I did not get one of my reaches, if I could get their in-state rate for tuition
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't even waste the application fee for IA.

Thank you- although I have a fee waiver- hopefully will not have to pay to many of them, but I appreciate the candor.naterj wrote:Don't even waste the application fee for IA.

Do you still have entitlement left on the Post 9/11 GI Bill? All of those schools are very regional. Penn State for instance places well in Central PA...between Philly and Pittsburg but not great in either of those cities. Where do you want to live/practice? If you don't mine Philly, maybe add Temple to your list. They cost way less than your GI Bill would cover (so you have a full-ride already) and they admit people with work experience but lowers LSATs under a special program.vatech11 wrote:156, 3.45, Va Tech UG Info Tech

I don't- used it all already- but still would consider Temple. I wonder what kind of programs they offer- will have to look at their site. Thanks for the info man

If you you used all of the old GI Bill, you can have 12 months re-instated under the Post 9/11 GI Bill. If you converted to chapter 33, and then used up your 36 months...you're out of luck. See the GI Bill forum on here for more info...vatech11 wrote:I don't- used it all already- but still would consider Temple. I wonder what kind of programs they offer- will have to look at their site. Re: Okay, Probably not retaking LSAT, maybe, but Probably not
I am going to look into it. I will not Grad. till dec. 2011- so I have decided to retake in feb. 11. I scored 156 the first time with only 1 month of studying, and some of that was during finals week. I am confident I can hit 160 in febblowhard wrote:If you you used all of the old GI Bill, you can have 12 months re-instated under the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Re: Okay, Probably not retaking LSAT, maybe, but Probably not
Students with significant military service are often the ones who are admitted despite below-25th percentile LSAT scores. When I was browsing LSN, there were quite a few who seemed to be serious outliers, statistically speaking, and someone would ask: Wow, how'd you do it? Frequently, they were ex-military. In your case, you're going to have some difficulty because your GPA is probably below median at some of these schools.
With that anecdotal evidence in mind, if you can get fee waivers, you should reach all over the place. But with a 156, you should also retake - most schools you're applying to do not average scores, you have very little to lose. There's a list around somewhere of which average and which do not, but if I recall correctly the ones that average are almost all T25. Most everyone else is happy to take your highest score and call it a day. Check and be sure, though.
Your 'good chance' schools are almost all sure admits. Your possibles are here and there. You would be a waitlist/deny at Case and Cincinnati this year if we go solely by numbers, but you're close, and non-trads are a little hard to predict. I think you have a chance at all the schools you've listed, but things would be far easier for you if you up the LSAT.

Hey thanks man- appreciate the response, and I am gad that I am being fairly realistic in my expectations. I think you and BH have given me good information- and I am going to retake. A 158-159 will help also, but if I hit the 160 I think I'll be in good shape.
