Are you just applying everywhere, or do you have a list of schools?

very interesting. there seems to be huge fluctuations on the data in lsn and the others. which do you think the highest school that i can get into with some money, im dirt poor so i will rely on free waivers, but where should i fork over the application fee, and who gives generous need based scholarships?

Depends on your retake. If you can score a couple points higher, I bet you'd be a Darrow candidate at Michigan.

Email every school you plan on apply to with:

To Whom It May Concern:

I am an African-American college senior at the University of _____ and I will be graduating in May 2011. My grade point average at ______ is a 3.xx and I will be graduating with honors in my ____ major. I took the LSAT in June 2010 and scored a 170, but I will be retaking the LSAT this coming September because I believe I can improve my score.

While researching schools, (name of law school) stood out as a school that would be a prime fit for me and I was excited about applying. However, the recent economic downturn has made financing the application process a bit more difficult than I had anticipated. With this in mind, I would respectfully like to ask for a fee waiver to apply for admission to the Class of 2014. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

This is what I used and got fee waivers at 70% of the schools I applied to.

In each of the last 3 years less than 40 AA males in the entire country have scored above a 165, with a 170 alone you can go anywhere, with $$$$, they'll be fighting for you, or your URM status, depending on how you look at it, have fun at Yale.

Lol wut, maybe if I get a 180, but then still it would prob be without money. Do you think the two LSAT scores hurt you? If I get even a 177 would it only be averaged:( I understand the official stance but do you think it hurt you? Where did you get in? What was you gpa? Message me..

Its not that ridiculous.. obviously colemf is exaggerating here, but a 3.2, 170 AA Male probably has a 40 to 50% chance at H and presumably a decent shot at S too).

A 3.0~3.1, 171 AA Male got in this past cycle so definitely apply to H and S at least.

Out @ Yale - GPA too low
WL @ Stanford - GPA whores
Harvard - possible but don't expect a quick JR1 email, WL at worst

CCN - definite possibilities, apply as early as possible for increased chances, but I still say IN.

Everywhere else - IN.

:)

This guy is a perfect example of how unpredictable AA male cycles can be. But concerning, CLS....I beg to differ <3

Yep. But it doesn't take away from the fact that the OP has a good chance at CLS. I dk if OP went to an ivy (UG outside of HYP really doesn't make a difference, and if it does, its minimal at best), but he apparently has some "interesting softs" too. Many AA males with his numbers make the cut. But like I said, such cycles are the most unpredictable. He should blanket the entire T14.
