Thomas Cooley? Any good?

Post by yourfuturepartner » Tue Jul 13, 2010 8:43 pm

Hi, I'm in my summer school this semester, and just managed to bump my GPA up to a 3.88 (WOOT!) as UMichigan studying Molecular Biology, but biology is not really my thing I feel. I'm squeamish at the sight of blood  . I think that being a lawyer might be more for me!
I got 171 on my LSAT, and really, I was pretty happy with that.
Money is the huge issue with me, so I'm thinking that getting the full scholarship at Cooley would help me out, It's close (I live in Lansing already), and is very highly ranked (15th IIRC)
So, what do you think, is this a good choice for me? Thanks

What does "FIYA" mean.
Please be easy on me, I haven't had much time to look at law schools, I just really made up my mind like a month ago when I signed up for the LSAT. I've been in Biology, not Pre-Law, so I dont look much into this stuff.

Not even a good flame. Please people, if you're gonna flame, at least put some creativity and humor into it. The Cooley thing has been done to death.

Jesus Christ, next time I wont try to ask any question, as I mentioned before, money is a huge f-in issue with me.
I'm not "flaming" or as its properly called TROLLING you stupid morons.
I'm serious in my questions
lrn2internet

edit: Money is the biggest issue, as I have none. Not all of us have parents that foot the bill. I'm currently in huge debt due to undergrad.

If you are serious, consult the rankings at US News and World Reports (or even right here on this very website). Good luck.

Worst flame ever. Truly pathetic.

If you're not a flame (which you are):

A 171/3.88 would get you into some of the best law schools in the country. But since you a) have no clue why you are going to law school and b) have such atrocious research skills that you think Cooley is ranked 15th in the nation, I'd give up now and start selling yourself for crack on the nearest street corner.

You will be able to get full rides from schools in the top 20 or 30. Cooley is an outhouse which you shouldn't remotely consider.

OP is right, it is called trolling. I don't know why posts like this came to be called flames on TLS. But I just learned to go with it a long time ago.

what is a flame? does anyone actually know what that is? I think you mean a TROLL. Like I said, I was all planning on going to Medical School. I've not really given it much thought. Cooley is legit right down the street from me, it would be free for me. Is this a bad idea to follow through? Anywhere else I'd have to pay housing, utilities, etc. I can stay at home and finish.

Not all of us have the money and resources to do all of this.

Matlock, thanks for being so nice to me. SRSLY.

troll

you could go to plenty of decent schools for free (American, Cardozo, etc.) and several T20 schools would give you 1/2+ scholarships (WUSTL, Vandy)

you are either a troll or a moron. either way you are wasting our time and wasting your life

Oh. In that case, I agree with Rad Law. Cooley is an excellent institution and you should certainly apply. Be sure to come up with a really thoughtful personal statement and great letters of recommendation, and you'll have a good shot. Best of luck!

Your numbers are strong enough that money will not be an issue for you if you go anywhere below the t14. As Burger suggested, you really need to look into the actual rankings of law schools before even considering going somewhere. Cooley is a joke (obviously), and if you go there, you will end up a joke yourself- a broke, unemployed, sad joke. It doesn't matter if it is convenient for you to end up a joke. Don't do it.
On the off-chance that you're not the laziest flame alive.
