Yes, if I recall, UVA will give you an ED response in 15 days. So, if you prefer UVA, ED as soon as you can, then ED to Northwestern if you don't get in.

If you prefer UVA to Northwestern, then sure, go for it. Not sure about your odds, but it certainly can't hurt.

If UVA promises the quick turnaround on ED apps they did last year, and you have a preference for UVA over Northwestern, then by all means do this. Just know that Northwestern is more willing to forgive GPA for a good LSAT and work experience than UVA, but no reason to give up on UVA if you can spare the application fee.

Really? Yes, it gives you a boost, but not a huge one. UVA has to admit 40% of it's class from Virginia.
