EA will minimize any chance of getting a scholarship. Submit it on the first day that they accept applications. Then apply to similarly ranked schools:Tx, cornell, Vandy. When other schools offer money UCLA will match it. I am starting in the fall and they matched or tried to match many of my offers from similarly ranked schools. You'll get in if you EA. but you'll pay stcker most likely.

I want to study Entertainment law, so UCLA is the best choice for that. I doubt I'd get into NYU with my scores, so I didn't think of applying, even though their school is good for entertainment law as well.

I thought by applying ED it would do the opposite, since it shows I want to attend their school, and thus they would feel comfortable offerin me scholarship, given my likeliness to attend. I suppose what you are saying is however plausible, since if I am accepted ED, I will have to rescind other apps, and thus contend with whatever UCLA offers me.

You'll still have better entertainment law prospects by going to the best law school you can. The overall law school ranking is >>>>> any specialty ranking.

And actually, I think you'd have a pretty good shot at NYU ED.

I don't like to post, but you're reasoning is exactly correct here. Think from a schools perspective. They only give out so many scholarships which are used to make their school more appealing to those who are still trying to decide whether they want to attend UCLA. If you apply ED you must attend so there is absolutely no reason to offer you money; after all they aren't rewarding loyalty, they are trying to maximize the number of excellent students they have.

They do EA (non-binding) at a few schools. I know Cornell is one of them

If you mean ED, don't do it; you won't likely get money and you are definitely a strong enough candidate to get in RD (likely with money or a scholarship match).
If you mean non-binding EA, it might be a good idea, but I don't really know what logic adcomms use in determining scholarships for those students

according to law school numbers, i'd say you'll either get in with a large scholarship or waitlisted.
