2.86/ 163

Post by Nailjohnj » Thu Jul 08, 2010 2:22 pm

Non-URM, 2.86 LGPA from a well respected southern school with strong uptrend (3.18 if you take out 1 year where I was chronically ill and had to work 55+ hours a week 30 mins from where I lived/ went to school. Does this matter?) and 163 on June 2010 LSAT. I have 5 years of consistent work history with my last year being a top sales person for a Fortune 100 company. I can write an awesome personal statement and get strong LOR's. I will be retaking the LSAT in Oct. because I know I can get 170+.

I am looking to get into a school in a major metropoliatian area that is not Atlanta. I would prefer to go to a Chicago/ NY/ DC school that doesn't necessarily stick me in one region for the rest of my life. Northwestern is my ultimate goal. What are my chances at other schools either with my current stats or if I get my 170+ on the retake? And where should I ED if anywhere?

Northwestern
UVA
NYU (hope and a prayer, I know)
Georgetown
Texas
Vandy
WUSTL
UC- Hastings
American
Others?

Thanks for the look.

UVA - Possibly in with a 172+.
NYU (hope and a prayer, I know) - Out even with a 180.
Georgetown - 171 - 172+ and you have an OK chance.
Texas - Out no matter what.
Vandy - Possibly with 170+, but more likely WL.
WUSTL - In with a 168+.
UC- Hastings - Probably out unless 172 - 173+.
American - In with a 165+ or so.

You're out every place you listed except maybe, possibly American, as it stands.

If you can get 170+, predictions are above.

This, except 167 is usually sufficient for WUSTL.

With his GPA, LSN seemed to indicate a 168 was more in line with what they wanted to see.

Kalvano is right. With his GPA, a 167 would make it a target, 168 would be safe.

you wont get in anywhere worth going to at sticker (and your low numbers prob disqualify you from decent scholarships from decent schools).

I would reccomend you to retake and aim for 165+, otherwsie reconsider law school

I haven't posted here much, but I have the bright idea that kalvano and romothesavior should try and equalize post counts. Then, change avatars to the same image so people get really confused/annoyed.

I'm not a post-count whore, spreading my legs for any thread that passes me by like romo is.

I'm not anti- Fordham, I just heard that it probably wasn't what I was looking for. Am I wrong?

Get a 170+ and apply ED to Northwestern.
That's your best bet.

Otherwise, American might take you.
