Possibility about $$ at Wake

Post by pjo » Thu Jul 08, 2010 10:10 am

Hoping maybe someone could shed some light on this. I was just looking at Wake's LSN, aside from one person with a 161, all non-urms below 163 didn't get any money. This is kind of discouraging from where I stand (162, 3.94). Just wondering if I might have a shot at least some scholarship at Wake. I was so pumped when I got my score, but the more I look into schools, the more discouraged I get. The top schools won't let me in and then regional schools I like seem like they won't give me money. Anyway... do you think I have a shot of getting some money at Wake? I'd really like to live/work in VA/NC btw (non-resident at both).

You might get a little for the awesome GPA, but their cutoff for money seemed to be a pretty hard line at 164 this year.

yea thats what I saw. I'm already getting stressed and the cycle hasn't even begun. I just don't think I can raise my score much more, if at all. If I could even get like 15k/yr from them then I'd probably go there (barring how the rest of the cycle pans out). I just can't justify paying more than 30k/yr or so to go there. I was also thinking about my chances with leveraging other offers if it came down to that.

If I remember the Wake 2013 thread correctly, they don't tend to match offers. They give their best shot first.

So what are my chances of going to a good law school in NC/VA for 30k/yr or less? I think my odds at UNC are 50/50 but that would fit my requirements should I get in.

at least you know what you need in order to get money from wake. just retake the lsat. an increase could net you 45k-75k so it seems worth the try.

Pretty good, I'd say. Might want to look at W&M or W&L.

those with 164 and a gpa above wake's median got 75k and those with a 163 got 45k. i don't think OP will get anything with those current stats.

Every time I see your avatar, my desire for crayola-red hair and pigtails increases.

Is this part of your master plan?
