174 LSAT/ 3.87 GPA
I just received a 174 on the June LSAT and currently have a 3.87 GPA from a small business focused school (honors major in mathematics)-- Do I really have any chance at Harvard or Stanford? I think my softs would be average to below average for the two schools, as would my PS (not saying they'd be awful or a huge problem area, I just know the applicants to these schools are insane...) Also, what are my chances at some of the other T-14 and where do you think I might be able to get money from? Thanks in advance for all the help!

I'd say you have a 50/50 shot at Harvard. Significantly less than that for Yale, because they're Yale, but if you tailor your application the right way you could have a reasonable shot at Stanford. In everywhere else. Significant scholarships from MVP, maybe 30-40k from CCN, half to full rides at the rest of the T-14 assuming they don't YP you. If you don't get full rides at 12 on down to all the rest of the non-T-14's you apply to, then you're doing it wrong.

Yes, you have a chance at Harvard (though leaning slightly closer to waitlist -> rejection than admit), little less so at Stanford (where softs are more important). Out at Yale, but in at Columbia and all the way down (barring mistakes or offensive items in your application, or yield protection). You should get money at CCN, and big money below that, but scholarships are harder to predict than admissions.

Thanks for all the help, but what do you mean "if you tailor your application in the right way" for Stanford? Does that mean write a Why Stanford essay, or are there other things I should consider changing on my application as well (some unique type of rec. etc etc)-- Thanks again for all the help!

Stanford is the school to go to for intellectual property. It loves technical backgrounds or backgrounds strong in work experience or entrepreneurship.ivantheterbl wrote:Thanks for all the help, but what do you mean "if you tailor your application in the right way" for Stanford? Hey - I had almost identical stats to yours (though with a liberal arts background, not math), and I got in at Yale and Harvard, but not Stanford. The Yale admittance seems like a lucky fluke to me, but you definitely have a shot at Harvard. I think I missed out on Stanford because I didn't tailor my application at all - if you're seriously interested in them, I would make sure you have a tailored essay and letters of rec.
