Re: 3.9/170 looking for advice on schools
Your credentials and your T-14 application list looks solid, and if you hit T-14 to T-20 you'll get some solid scholarship offers probably as well.
I would say the next best thing you can do is get some great recs from professors/employers, you have what looks like a solid set of numbers and softs. Make sure you explain "why law school" somehow (in PS, through your recommendations) since your background jumps out at me that you would want to be a coach or sports analyst or something, but making that leap is not hard to do...

Yes, going the nice route and not calling this flame, you have very good odds at those numbers at a T-14 assuming you are not a psycho killer (even then, probably a good shot).
Yale is a black box but worth a shot, Harvard and Stanford are better odds (Harvard best since their class is huge)
Applying early is always in your favor, the 3.9 makes me think you should apply to Berkeley as well with their love for high GPAs.

You have some shot at HYS, decent shot at CCN, and should get money down from that. I definitely advise applying to as many t-14 + ucla, ut, vandy as you can. The application fees are a small price to pay when scholarship decisions come that you can use to negotiate.

I think you could be one of the rare cases where softs have some serious impact. Walking onto a D1 football team and keeping a 3.9 is fairly unique. I think every school is in play for you. HYS seems very possible, CCN seems likely, everything below that should be in.

Only if these statements are true... I kept a 4.0 while going to school AND working full time plus family obligations, I don't think it mattered much if at all, my major was arguably harder too.samsonyte16 wrote:I think you could be one of the rare cases where softs have some serious impact. To OP, your goal is to keep your GPA at 3.9 at least, since you have 2 more years to go. Then apply and feel lucky.
And apply early! Take my advice on that...
