Re: 162, 3.0 GPA from UVA
Way too general. No. Somewhat.Fred_McGriff wrote:Looking to go to school in the South. I've got two years of work experience, and my grades trend from a 2.6 to a 3.6 increasing every semester. Anyone have any idea where this puts me? Will going to UVA undergrad and some grade progression offset the 3.0?

The good info I've gotten so far tells me to look hard at South Carolina, apply to Miami, Tennessee, Georgia (for yucks), Kentucky, and maybe Ole Miss...
Any other ideas or thoughts on these schools?

If you go to the UVA career services website....I dont know exactly where it is but search pre law or something (I have looked at it before) and it has a list of UVA specific students who applied to schools and it lists the GPA/LSAT score of those who applied/who were accepted/who attended. It is UVA only stats so that should give you a pretty good idea. Although upward grade trend might place you a little higher than a 3.0 and working experience is always a plus.

I can somewhat relate...I have a 163 and a 2.99 from William and Mary... Super stressed about the GPA
Will probably take the LSAT a second time. Trying to get into Loyola University in Chicago or DePaul University... those are the main ones.... Anyway, solidarity, friend. But you've got a better chance than me since your gpa is better annnnd UVa is great

You should be good for Ole Miss although this past cycle was really tough on Out of state applicants (161/3.0 was WL).Fred_McGriff wrote:The good info I've gotten so far tells me to look hard at South Carolina, apply to Miami, Tennessee, Georgia (for yucks), Kentucky, and maybe Ole Miss...

Ole Miss-WL/In
USC - In with $
Miami - In, but probably at sticker, so don't recommend
UGA - Not a chance unless URM
Bama - Out
UNC - Out if OOS, WL if in-state
Florida - WL
Indiana - WL/Out
Wake - WL
Kentucky - In, I think
Tennessee - Probably in if you apply early
LSU- In w/$
Denver-In, but probably no $, so don't go
Richmond - In, but probably no $, so don't go
Vermont-In with $
