Decent chance at one of the CCN if you apply early, but otherwise you're in at almost all the schools after that.ilovemulch wrote: Harvard - Out

You might be able to spin this as good work experience if you're honest about it. This doesn't sound like management experience. It's sales.ilovemulch wrote:haha love it. Without giving too many specifics, it's a company that basically recruits recent college grads to be assistant (and then associate after 2 years) product managers, but the products are like totally weird collectibles (i.e. sports memorabilia, figurines, jewelry)....I do product development, marketing, operations...i.e. general business management (and the products that I manage generate $20 million sales annually). I guess it's pretty unusual?kk19131 wrote:ilovemulch wrote: (asst. product manager managing $20 million worth of consumer products)

I meant applying early in the cycle (ex: September). Although ED to NYU or Chicago would probably solidify your chances at those schools.ilovemulch wrote:This is encouraging! Do you mean ED or just early in the cycle? I was toying with idea of ED to NYU but now am thinking I will RD and just have apps in super early. Also, only took LSAT once (171)...not sure if that would be a slight bump (vs. let's say someone with a score in 160s who then gets a 172 or something)?Moxie wrote:Decent chance at one of the CCN if you apply early, but otherwise you're in at almost all the schools after that.ilovemulch wrote: Harvard - Out

Taking the LSAT only once doesn't really provide a bump, so don't factor that in to your chances.
I think if you apply early in the cycle (by middle of October at the latest), you'll get either Chicago or Columbia. If you want Columbia, I think Early Decision may be a good idea, if you're willing to go there at sticker cost.

When did you get all of your apps in?

Re: 3.69/171...do me :)
I got all my apps in by the end of October/first week of November. It was nice because I got Duke's priority track, which promises a response within 10 days of their processing your application. I was going to apply to BU and safeties outside of the T-14, but after the Duke acceptance I just applied to the other T14s. I think if I could do it over again, I would have seriously considered retaking the LSAT (i was PTing a bit above 172) and I do believe that you have very little to lose by retaking and a lot to gain. If you can bump your LSAT above 173, your chance at Columbia is probably a lot higher, albeit our chances at HYS would unlikely be affected by a higher LSAT due to our GPAs. Moreover, a higher LSAT gives you a much better chance at merit aid, which I didn't get any of at my target schools.

Re: 3.69/171...do me :)
Yeah I just don't think I could rely on getting a score above 173...My PT average, median and mode was 171 (I ranged 166-176 just in the last 2 weeks before the exam)...I feel like I could end up with a score below 170 if I retook plus I have used up ALL study materials! I'm just going to give it my best! I'm also planning on BU, Fordham etc. as safeties. Where did you end up accepting, if you did?hopefullaw27 wrote:I got all my apps in by the end of October/first week of November. Re: 3.69/171...do me :)
umm...so with regards to duke, cornell, and gtown, i didn't really pursue merit aid (didn't fill out the forms)...lazy on my part, but i would have chosen nyu/chicago/penn at sticker over those with money. i think it may be reasonable to assume that i would have gotten around 45,000 for 3 years at duke based on LSN.
