What LSAT score do I need for WUSTL?
I am two semesters away from graduating from a private university (majoring in history) and will end up with a GPA between 3.3 and 3.4. My dream would be to get into WUSTL. What LSAT score would I need to have a decent shot? If I score between 160 and 170 what are the best schools I could get into?

Re: What LSAT score do I need for WUSTL?
You would need at least a 174-175 for a 100% admit at WUSTL. The good news is they do take splitters with lowish GPA's like yours. But, you have a "good" shot with a 168+, anything less and you are on thin ice, especially in this competitive environment.
This is also my dream school. I have a 3.8 (will graduate with a 3.85), and am shooting for a 170 on the LSAT (Am PTing in the mid-160's, and am taking in October.)
I hope to get in with some $$ because in my opinion WUSTL is not worth sticker. Mostly because in the region you will be competing with so many good/better schools:
Michigan *T13
Northwestern *T13
University of Chicago *T13
Iowa *T25
Notre Dame *T25
Illinois *T25
Minnesota *T25
Indiana-Bloomington *T25 (or at least T30, not sure?)
(Did I miss some?)
Needless to say a large portion of these graduates will be shooting for the same markets:
Chicago ($$$), St. Louis, St. Paul/Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Milwaukee
WUSTL is in a highly saturated market, with a bad (if not terrible in most of the region) economic outlook, and a bunch of T25 schools. WUSTL might not be worth the sticker unless you graduate top 5% and/or want to stay in St. Louis.
Shoot for a 175 so you have a chance at good money. There was someone who had a 3.7 and a 168 on LSAT and got denied at WUSTL last cycle. I also saw someone with a 3.5 and a 162 get accepted. Shoot high and consider the financial costs if you are forced between sticker at WUSTL and a scholarship elsewhere.

I disagree with the above poster. Based off this years cycle, you should have a very good shot with a 167. I know LSN is a very small sample but take a look at the WUSTL graph. There is a wall of yellow up to 166 and a wall of green starting at 167. Based off LSN I think you stand a pretty good chance of a little $$ too.
Good luck!

Re: What LSAT score do I need for WUSTL?
According to Law School Predictor, with a 3.3 GPA and a 167 he is a consider, being slightly below median. I was saying that a 170+ would get him a 100% chance of acceptance. But, a 167 (at median) with that low of a GPA (below median) doesn't translate to $$$ in my mind.ENGINEERD wrote:I disagree with the above poster. I could be wrong, I just wouldn't expect WUSTL to be throwing cash to attract students at/below their median. Does he have a good shot with a 167? Certainly! Is it a secure? Far from it.
Edit: Even a 173 only puts him in the 75% percentile at WUSTL (accepted for sure, but maybe not with $$ with a 3.3 gpa.) That is why I said 174-175 for 100% secure (with $).

I got in with some $ with a very low GPA and a 170, but there are also some splitters like me that didn't get in. Apply early.

I think a 167 should be enough.

Late night is insane. WUSTL throws acceptances at 167+. You could have a 2.5 and a 170 would probably get you in. With a 3.3 you should be good with 167. They live off of T14 rejects so they accept every high LSAT that applies. They are the definition of a splitter school.

168+
And 160-170 is not a reasonable range. That would like asking what kind of car can I get if I had $20,000-$40,000

If that's true, I have a lot less to worry about..FuManChusco wrote:Late night is insane. WUSTL throws acceptances at 167+. You could have a 2.5 and a 170 would probably get you in. WUSTL seems to be doing well enough in this economy. (In the sense that not all of their students are screwed over..)

look at the wall of green that goes up at 167. they know they have to keep their LSAT median high to stay T20. Unfortunately St. Louis isn't target market number 1 for most people so a lot of applicants will go to other schools over WUSTL. They hedge their bets by accepting a ton of high LSATs and throwing out a lot of cash. As a splitter, I respect them a lot, haha. Truly a great school.

I would like to see the GPA for those green dots. I doubt they are at 3.3

Just put your cursor over the green dots on the graph and see for yourself.LateNight wrote:I would like to see the GPA for those green dots. I doubt they are at 3.3
Many 167's with below a 3.3 were accepted to WUSTL this year.

I got in with a 3.3/168. But I am positive that I got lucky. Don't leave it to chance, aim for 170-172 for a sure bet. And apply early.

Well I'll be damned! Give me a dunce cap and an acceptance letter to WUSTL.
I had a 3.8 and figured I would need a minimum of 170 to get in.
Sweet.

3.8 170 will put you squarely in T14 territory.LateNight wrote:Well I'll be damned! Give me a dunce cap and an acceptance letter to WUSTL.

if you have a 3.8/170 then you should be aiming for T6.LateNight wrote:Well I'll be damned! Give me a dunce cap and an acceptance letter to WUSTL.

a 3.8 and a 170 gets me solid red at all top 6 schools, don't know where you are looking.

I mean, you'd most likely get waitlisted/rejected, but NYU might take you and if you bump the LSAT up a few points, I'm sure you'd get one of CCN.LateNight wrote:a 3.8 and a 170 gets me solid red at all top 6 schools, don't know where you are looking.

I don't think T6, but a 3.8/170 gives you a shot for T7 to T14FuManChusco wrote:if you have a 3.8/170 then you should be aiming for T6.LateNight wrote:Well I'll be damned! Give me a dunce cap and an acceptance letter to WUSTL.

Statements like the bolded cause me to question whether you know at all what you are talking about. Bleaker than things have been? Perhaps. But terrible legal market, when compared to the rest of the country? Hardly. California, and for that matter New York, I can assure you, are more competitive to get a foothold into than the Midwest. The Midwest has actually done a bit better, relatively speaking. Don't underestimate the size of the Midwest market. There are several cities in it that people go to. It doesn't all center around one giant city (such as in NYC, DC, or LA). Sure, Chicago is the "powerhouse" if you will, but it isn't the only Midwestern market.LateNight wrote: Needless to say a large portion of these graduates will be shooting for the same markets:
