Chances of Top 15 Law School Scholarship

Post by rklafehn » Mon May 17, 2010 7:08 pm

I graduated with a 3.92 GPA overall from the University at Buffalo with a 3.97 GPA in my major (mathematics) and a 4.0 in my minor (Philosophy). My last four semesters were all 4.0 GPAs.

I am currently studying for the LSAT, which I will be taking in June. My current range of scores on the exam is 172 - 176.

I have decent "soft" factors such as undergraduate teaching assistant position, two research positions under two different professors, have given a presentation at a national conference for undergraduates, and have done various community service over the years.

What do you think my chances are of being admitted and subsequently offered a decent amount of money from the following schools: Columbia, NYU, UPenn, Georgetown, Vanderbilt.

Thanks. All and any input is appreciated.

probs not, given they mentioned Vandy.

OP, if you successfully achieve such a score on a real LSAT, you will have an excellent chance of being admitted and subsequently and/or concurrently offered decent amount of money at all of those schools.

Actually, Penn and possibly Georgetown will probably waitlist you, assuming that you will get into a YHS and/or CCN with money.

I can't find any information on scholarships anywhere and I am already going to have to take out loans to pay for law school. Thus, I am curious as to my chances of receiving money from a top school, thus allowing me to attend there and not be $100k+ in debt. So, any real input would be appreciated.

And I do not know what "UCLA trolling" means.

I know this isn't one of the schools you listed, but I got $30K/year at Michigan with a 3.92/168.

Edit: What is your LSAC GPA? It can vary widely from your school's. Calculate it online at lawschoolpredictor.com.

Come back when you have a REAL LSAT score. Everyone and his dog practices in the 170s.

if you actually get a 172+ score, you have a good shot at getting money. full scholarships are pretty rare though.

This is conspicuous Vandy trolling. Perhaps the OP meant Texas, Vandy, USC, WashU.

Okay but seriously, with your GPA, you should be aiming WAY higher.

Low 170s- Top 6
Mid/High 170s- HYS

A 173+ will give you serious looks from the very, very top schools, and you'll be in contention for the most prestigious schollies at T10 schools.
