I have a 4.0 GPA from a top public school and am consistantly scoring 168's on PT LSAT's. If that turned into a 168 on June 7th what schools would i have possibilities at?

I have strong LOR's and decent soft's, nothing amazing. Also Not a URM. I am hoping for T10, im assuming there is no chance at HYS, for top 10 (preferably Columbia, Berkeley, Penn) would i need to score above 170?

I know there are many calculators, but people's opinions sometimes help also

Harvard and Yale are likely out but don't rule out Stanford! Stanford loves GPA.
Columbia is a tossup.
Penn is likely in.
UC-Berkeley is definitely in.

False hope. Not even close to being "definitely" in.

Berkeley is tough. A strong GPA is necessary but not sufficient (LSAT what up).

Just as a reference... There are two 4.0/168 applicants on Berkeley's LSN page for this year. Both straight rejections.

Thank you for all the imput, i am hoping to get my lsat up before June but i have been constantly at 168 for 5 PT's.

Any ideas of minimum LSAT with a 4.0 to gain a decent chance at HYS?

Entirely dependent on what you actually score. High 160s gives a shot at T10, 172+ is strong for T6, 175+ is strong possibility at one of HYS.

Keep working, you have a month to go. Do your best to crack 170 if not higher. The better you do the higher you'll go.

I don't mean you need a 175, just that a 175 is what it would take to make it an assumption you'll get accepted. You could get accepted with less, it's just more of an open question.

I was admitted to UVA with a 166/4.0, along with $30,000. A 168/4.0 will give you options, but the obvious advice is to try to get those practice scores up a couple of points into the 170s.

Yup. Already made my deposits and about to start this fall. I think as long as you score just as well on the real tests as u r on the PTs u'll be fine. Plus ur already really close! U have nothin to worry about. Best of luck!

What I believe most people on here are doing, as Vanwinkle put it, is saying what you'd need to feel really strong about your chances. However, if actually do end up with a 168, 4.0, then I'd apply absolutely everywhere you are interested in, including YHS... because you just never know. Even on http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com/ you get at least a "weak consider" from all of the long shots, including Y and H, as opposed to a flat-out denial.

In any case, we cannot know. Just focus on doing well with the LSAT, keep your 4.0 (if you're still taking classes), and make sure your PS, resume, and LORs are sharp and well put together. Do all that and you're bound to have some very nice options. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the advice guys, I am still taking classes, and will recieve another 4.0 this semester. (do A- count against you in LSAC, or do they still give you a 4.0 rather then a 3.66). I havent gotten any A-'s yet but next year is looking rather challenging. Also still working very hard on LSAT. Glad to see some good options according to others. I am hoping to have a shot at Berkeley since they have a high standing on GPA.

I think you still have a shot at HYS, especially if you can up your score by just a few pts. You should definitely apply regardless...Harvard LOVES a high GPA so it's worth trying at least!

Unfortunately, A-s do count as 3.67 rather than 4.0 for the purposes of the LSDAS report. But if you only get one or two, it's not honestly going to affect too much in the realm of making sure you get above the 75%ile mark. However, I think there is an argument that a perfect 4.0 is impressive to adcomms. Who knows... in any case you will be well above the median of any school you apply to if you keep it up.

I think you still have a shot at HYS, especially if you can up your score by just a few pts. You should definitely apply regardless...

+1. Yeah, even if you only end up with a 168, you should apply to everyone you're interested in because (1) you have a shot of some sort, even if it's a bit slimmer, and (2) you might always wonder "what if" if you don't do it.

wow i was under the impression that they got rid of the plus/minus after sent into LSAC since many schools do not use the Plus/minus system. Its very annoying because though my school gives A- they do not give A+ to balance those out, which i do not understand

Yeah, it's kind of annoying, but that's how it goes. You might as well know going in.

There is hope for Berkeley. I got in with a 3.83 and a 168, non-urm, but you need at least decent softs (I believe my softs got me in) to something very different/unique in a good way.

Careful of being too sure of your chances with the rest of the T14 outside HYS. I had a 3.853 with two separate degrees (BM, BA), departmental honors, Phi Beta Kappa, etc., plus really strong recs, a year of WE, other strong softs, and a 168. I'm feeling really lucky to have gotten into Northwestern (after being held) and Cornell, plus I got a lot of money at UT, UCLA, USC, and WUSTL, but I only got waitlisted at Columbia, Duke, and GULC (SPWL).

A couple of other people this year with similar numbers didn't apply to any safeties and were left with half a dozen waitlists and no admits, so be careful. You just can't rely on old admissions stats anymore, because ITE none of it applies. Good luck!
