What lsat do I need for UVA ED?
So I'm taking the lsat in June and I'm PTing in the lower 160s after a few weeks of studying (I went up 8 points after my second pt one I was familiar with the format). Anyway, I have a 3.95+ GPA, decent (not earth shattering, but actually pretty unique) softs, and my recs are pretty good. I plan on applying the day apps open up, and I'm wondering what lsat will give me a solid shot at UVA ED? And by solid I mean around 50%.

164 ? Someone (non URM) ED'd and got in with a 160 and high GPA. UVA loves splitters. I think they make up most of the class.

Probably even less will do. UVA is an extreme splitter whore, especially ED.

Awesome. Out of curiosity, why do they like splitters?

Re: What lsat do I need for UVA ED?
It's hard to say, simply because UVa can take whatever high-GPA splitters they want, whether they ED or not, simply by virtue of not many other top schools willing to do so. Hence, the process becomes very holistic.
Anything over 160 gives you a shot if the rest of your application is fantastic (i.e., well-written, introspective PS; glowing, personalized LOR's; top undergrad university).
If you want a shot at ED based off your numbers alone, get a 164 or above.
Edit: Even if you don't get a 164, I still encourage you to ED. It is still your best shot at the T14, Virginia has been willing to take 160-163 LSAT's in the past, and they may like you even if you're not sure your application is strong enough.

171 2.99 168 3.77
162 3.91 167 3.80
166 3.86 169 3.67
172 3.06 168 3.76
Add a couple hundred more students to these lists, but you get the picture, class A is going to have higher medians in the end.

This guy had a slightly better GPA than you and majored in Classics. Yes, you'll have at least a shot.

ED first day the app becomes available, and you have very good chance to get in. (100% if you are in-state)

It's called gaming the system. I think it started 2 years ago or so. UVA's 25th LSAT is the lowest out of the top 14, along with Berkeley's at 165. USNews only takes into account of medians for rankings purposes.poo wrote:D. H2Oman wrote:scribelaw wrote:166

So okay.. let me get this straight.
With a 3.0 GPA, my chances are good with only a 170+ LSAT for UVA ED...

Yes. 3.0 + 170 + ED = UVA acceptanceDr. Strangelove wrote:So okay.. let me get this straight.

You absolutely need a 170+, a 169 will not cut it. UVA is big on its medians and if you're not meeting at least one (and you're not URM), you're not getting in.shock259 wrote:3.4 - ED - In state residence

I've been scoring from 170-177 on practice tests but this takes off some pressure.. GPA is currently shy of 3.0.

I mean it's no guarantee, but you've got a good chance. You absolutely need a 3.0+ and a 170+ though.Dr. Strangelove wrote:Wow! That's awesome.
