3.6/ 159... Chances? Retake?

Post by iamandypark » Wed Apr 14, 2010 12:59 pm

Hey guys, I will be graduating next spring (May 2011). I plan on applying this fall to the following schools:
Temple (top choice)
Villanova
Rutgers Camden
Seton Hall
Santa Clara

Any chance on getting into Temple?

Here are some EC's and Resume info:
Multiple Student Government Leadership positions
Part time/ full time work experience through school

I also plan on getting letters of rec from a few professors who I am close with.

Should I do a retake to increase my chances?
I took the LSAT for a second time in February and the snow/blizzard really messed up my focus, I ended up getting a 154 the second time. Would it be worth it to take the LSAT a 3rd time?

Thanks everyone!

Since I just did this cycle I'll give you my close approximation

Temple = waitlist
Nova = waitlist/in
RU-C = In/Possible Scholly
Seton Hall = In/Scholly
No idea about Santa Clara

Retaking the LSAT is your best bet and you've got plenty of time for the October exam. Getting to a 162+ makes you an in at all the schools (SC withstanding).

You could also consider Drexel, but RU-C is your best bet as is, considering the price vs opportunities.

I applied to Temple and Villanova with a 3.2/159. I'm stilll on the WL at Temple, and got into Villanova. Technically, these should have been auto-rejects (below both 25%s) but I wrote a killer personal statement that wasn't "the norm". So, I'd recommend spending awhile on your PS and you should be good.

I agree. With a 2.7/160 I got into Temple with full scholarship due to a strong overall app, good letters of rec and a great personal statement. I also was accepted with scholarship to Depaul, Chicago-Kent, Franklin Pierce(full) and accepted without scholarship to GW. Wait listed on most others. If you are even close to the "cut off" beef up your app with a great PS. I strongly recommend the services of http://www.revisionediting.com. She was a great help and my PS rocked!

I THINK YOU have a decent shot at all of them if you apply in september! Remember rolling admissions! Good Luck. Santa Clara is a school that puts emphasis on GPA so youre solid there and above the median! My friend was URM and got into temple with a 3.0 and 159...youre solid!

I can empathize with you here....practiced in the mid 160's messed up and got a 154, then didnt study took a couple pts got in the mid 160's and went down. I have a mental block for this test its crazy. I got into McGeorge with 154 3.62 gpa really good softs. You can try there as well. You might get full scholly or at least 25k!
