Good or bad idea? PLEASE HELP!!
Okay so i have never actually done this before.........but ill give it a shot!
So here's my story
3.1 current GPA
142 LSAT
Due to a lot of personal problems i had last semester i was unable to take my finals, and therefore received I(in completes) in all of my classes. I am afraid that when i finish the work that they need me to finish, and i don't get good grades my gpa will drop ( most likely to a 2.92)
So i can either apply now with my current credentials, or wait till my grades get posted but i will have a lower GPA
I have excellent letters of recommendation, and a great personal statement.
I'm not planning on applying anywhere big (obviously).......basically im applying to Florida Coastal, John Marshall Atlanta, Charlotte, Florida A&M , & Florida International
So what do you guys think is a better idea?? I REALLY need to get accepted SOMEWHERE for fall 2010

I think you're pretty much screwed. Applications are closed at a lot of places, I believe.

It's not happening, man. Unless you retake, you might even be shut out from these schools. As I recall, the lowest 25th percentile for am ABA accredited school is 144. You MUST retake. This is not optional.

Nova may have been an option based on those that have been admitted so far, but the deadline may have lapsed.

and Ave Maria near Naples has a few on hold in that range...

I have already taken it 3 times , when I called Florida coastal they told me they're deadline is in July bc they're accepting the June LSAT!! None of these schools deadlines have passed and their classes are no where near full! Should I just go ahead and take the June LSAT?

I hate to say this and sound like an ass, but you really should consider a different career path, the debt just wont be worth it.

I don't think you can take it a 4th time unless a school sponsors you. You really should consider another occupation. Work in business for a few years and apply for a MBA program. They won't care about your low gpa.lulusmj wrote:I have already taken it 3 times , when I called Florida coastal they told me they're deadline is in July bc they're accepting the June LSAT!! Dude apply to an mba program they will be less numbers focused and more forgiving of ur gpa, actually ur gpa won't be that bad for many mba programs.

They also said i still have plenty of time to apply. Maybe i should take off a semester and go ahead and apply for the spring ?? opinions??

You've been given the proper advice in this thread. Heed it.
If you choose to apply anyway, reread this when either:
1) You are rejected everywhere
or
2) You are unemployed

If this is what you know you want to do, why didn't you study for the LSAT, the most important part of your application? If you're serious, you really should consider getting one of the schools to sponsor a 4th test. Since none of these schools make for a good investment at sticker, a decent retake could at least get you some money.

Re: Good or bad idea? PLEASE HELP!!
Take a couple years off, accumulate some challenging work experience and study for the LSAT. Your GPA is less important as time passes on, but you'll still need a better LSAT score to get into a decent school.

I see that you applied to many schools in Florida, do you speak Spanish?
If so, apply to The University of Puerto Rico. This may be your only choice. It is ABA accredited and in a wonderful location.

Re: Good or bad idea? PLEASE HELP!!
I do not understand why you would not have at least studied everyday for a month. Moreover if you were under dourest then you should have held off from taking the lsat at all. At least after the first lsat you should have recognized you needed to study at least a tiny bit. Take a few months off and then study and then retake the lsat and you should be good to go buddy. Hell you might even get above a 155 and get some money and some low level schools. Remember life is a marathon not a sprint relax. Also your is not to weak at all if you can get in the mid 150's. Good luck be easy.

How do i get a school to sponsor me?
And no i dont speak spanish, but i do speak arabic, and i have a lot of volunteer work abroad....i also have internship experience in a law firm (2 years worth)
So maybe i should wait to apply for the spring , study really hard, and take the june lsat...if i get sponsored.......good idea?

Probably, but I usually treat it like a legitimate question, on the off-chance that the OP is sincere.clintonius wrote:Flame.

You can't really be certain of anything in this life. Just because its what you "know" its what you want, doesn't mean that you'll be most successful doing it. I agree with JOThompson, you gotta take some time off. Maybe down the line, you'll realize doing something else is better for you in the long run than throwing a lot of time and money at law school.lulusmj wrote:Ughhh i know i can only take it 3 times!! Get a job for the DOD as an Arabic translator or field specialist in Iraq/Kuwait/Jordan, etc. and get a starting salary of $60K plus hazard duty bonus...
I'm sorry to say, but taking the lsat 3 times with no studying or improvement = fail

That's definitely another fine reason to take time off between undergrad and law school. You'll gain a lot of maturity and perspective. You may even discover that law isn't your ideal profession. I've been out of school for a year and it's been invaluable for me, really solidified my decision to pursue law.acash09 wrote:You can't really be certain of anything in this life.
